Default any reason to replace OEM strut bar?

SO its kind of a lame thread, i know i know.
"POST IF YOURE BORED" ALERT.

I searched a LITTLE.. not many threads about the ol strut bar.. probably answers my question right there really.. ha.
i will likely be running w out a hood for a bit during the ridiculous summer heat and pending FI install.
Mishimoto radiator, samco hoses, all the good stuff yadda yadda..
The powerlab polished kit is kinda pretty i must say.. finally a reason to clean up my engine bays look a little bit. Bought some carbon covers, just the basics.. nothing stupid or over the tops.

Question..
Is there any improvement aside from JDM bling factor/looks to be had by swapping this w another part??

Things to mention:
I have a carbon ( Veilside) hood.. most likely will have the basic powerlab plenum spacer w my stock intake back on..and will have the powerlab single turbo FMIC piping just in front of the engine cover over the belts...

so im curious if anyones had sucess w a decent strut bar that fits a plenum spacer, sits over the plenum not in front.. and will still be thin enuff for a carbon hoods clearance issues after the summer is over .

Otherwise im perfectly content just leaving what God and Nissan intended and leave the OEM bar in place i guess.

I bought the greddy strutt tower bar used. The guy who had it before me had issues with his seibon vtii hood and the height of the plenum because of the spacer. He grinded the back of the strutt tower bar to help clear the height. I didn't have any issues with my 5/16 motordyne spacer on my vt hood or on my new hr ts style.

+1 for looking better than the oem one. Oh and its easier to adjust.

OE sturt bar will fit just perfect with the PL plenum spacer pics to prove it:

personal I wouldn't change the strut bar since there is not that much to see and not that much to gain.
the potion I might recommend is repainting them. Cheap, easy, and looks different.
all'n'all it's just a matter of taste but clearance wise any 03-06 strut bar would be good.

good luck,

It doesn't really do anything for the street, no. There are performance applications for it though.

I noticed this thread is a couple months old but i thought i would put in my input. I just changed my strut bar last week and that stock one is heavy! I replaced it with a JDM Sport one got it at Formula Drift. Sanded it down and rattle canned it flat black and Red

that actually turned out really good. I was going to do something like this but it's kinda hard to find a strut bar that perfectly fits the HR motor and works with all the engine stuff I have

Height/design difference to clear mods. They also make ones that go in front of the plenum rather than over.

Also, cosmetics.

You can look at my garage or in my avatar. The Tanabe Red strut bar I bought said for '03+. It actually fits better than the stock (HR) and it no longer rubs on my Stillen Gen3 CAI.
