Tinting taillights and turnsignals?
Names Alex and im up here in the Chicago area
I was wondering what was the best way to go about tinting my tail lights and turnsignals. Whether some tint shops offer the service or spraying em at home or trying to order pre-cut pieces im just not sure
Would appreciate any advice yall have to offer
Thanks in advance

there is film that is made for exterior applications. it is thicker than window tint because window tint is inside and is protected from the elements. I used the exterior film and cut it to proper shape and applied it just like I would for window tint.

I've sprayed reflectors but there's no way I'd attempt the same thing with any part bigger...There are tints you can buy and then trim to size. If you want to do it cheap and want it to look okay then I'd go that route. If you want them to turn out looking awesome I'd cough up the cash and have them done professionally
you can get them painted or you can get overlays. i got overlays for $20 off ebay and they're flawless. have had them for about 7 months now.

.. do wish i would have went a little darker on the reverse lights though.

I sprayed my old SRT4 tails. Looked perfect. I don't think I'd do my Z tails probably because it's black and a Nismo.
I had the black led tails on the srt so they look much darker then they actually are.

I did overlays. I wouldn't spray them as it is tough to go back is you decide to later on.
Overlays are cheap and 100% reversible. They an easy DIY. Just grab your gf's hairdryer and go to town...

Also there's less steps in getting them professionally tinted. Wet sand surface once, spray 2 coats, buff, done and wax just like the rest of the car to protect them. Good thing is with the reverse lights or signals on you can't even tell they are tinted. The guy that did my inspection sticker said it may not pass inspection but then after turning them on he was impressed that the light came through as bright as it did.
Though it may be costly to have a shop do them but my shop dude did mine for a case of Bud Light.

I've never really been impressed with VHT. Doesn't hold a candle to quality automotive clear coat tinted with black paint and applied with a gun then buffed.
