Default Button Lettering for Fog Light Switch?

Hi! I got fog lights installed in the car and I'm trying to make a nice factory looking button for it. I found out that there is a space for another button right next to VDC button so I bought another one just like it I'm willing to use on that space. So I got this white VDC letters on the button I need to remove and put my letters on it.

Anybody have any idea where I can do it?

You can paint it black or sand them off

sand both and redo vdc button and your custom one so they match. unless your custom button is going to be pretty spot on matching the vdc button, then just sand the new one

If it were me, I'd paint it with the black vinyl/interior paint that matches up with our interior. Then see if I could find a small fog light sticker or go have one made (or a few, then sell some).

You could just get away with an all black switch, but getting a decal would make it look OEM as hell.

Yes, but if you painted it black, the paint will not create smooth finish like the stock one have. I was thinking to try to scrape the letters and try to go to one of the places where they make some stickers, pens with custom lettering etc and try to ask them what they can do.

The paint should be pretty close, but you're right, it won't be exactly the same. I just had another thought... Would rubbing alcohol (or some other chemical agent) take those letters off? Shouldn't hut the plastic finish and would leave the piece blank...

To get a perfect fit finish and logo/print, this is what I would do:

- Use a small PLASTIC tool, cloth over it, a little jewelers rouge and meticulously take off just the spare vdc button letters.

- Create, and scale to size, a template of the fog logo in Photoshop

- Test print on paper, compare width of lines to font line width on original vdc button, till perfect

- Create a template in photo shop to fit as many scaled fog logos on an 8x11 sheet as possible while maintaining enough extra room around them to cover the the whole button.

- Send an 8x11 vinyl sheet and scaled fog logo template file to be laser etched

Now you have many vinyl stick on painting stencils

- Test placement of logo with some simple water based paint till it looks perfect

- Paint with apropriate plactic paint

BAM that's how to do it perfect (and spend a lot of time)

Hope this helped and entertained

+1 I like this idea.

if the vdc off is painted on the oem switch, it should come off with paint thinner.
you might want to purchase a small can of model master airbrush thinner. it should work
very well without leaving any scratches from the sanding or require any painting to match the oem color.

Have you thought about maybe looking at another company's OEM buttons? I know the 03 civic button was very similar in shape and size to the VDC button, but it had the relay and stuff built in. Does Infiniti have any cars with independently operated foglights? Maybe they have a switch cover that would work.
