Good work Tuan... I knew you would do it.
Just goes to show how easy APS has made the life of the 350z tuner!
350zDCalb: With the MAP based tuning, elimination of potentially scattered CAS signal, and professional installation... I do not believe this to be any hazard on the motor. Since putting so much abuse on my own car at the power levels it was at and seeing the engine internals hold up just fine... I would have the confidence just as well to push it so hard.
He and many more to come will show that this engine can take a lot more... and I am willing to bet you will see 600rwhp on a stock engine.

Phunk,
I have to agree with you and surely someday someone else will make more power with correct supporting mods. Its just a matter of time and effort. While I don't want to make any assumptions until more APS kits are out there with some high mileage on them, I'll bet you'll see less blown up motors with APS kits than most other TT kits.
The Z seems to pull pretty smoothly on the dyno. One of my head techs even notice as I did a pull.
I'll try to put some abuse on this setup as long as can, just to see how she holds up. It just plainly sucks that we have to deal with the cold chicago winter and no traction.

500 on a stock block is an incredible feat but dont expect it to last long and I will put money on that.It is not about tuning, it is about the amount of stress, 500 horsepower will put on the stock internals. The rods and pistons in the VQ are really not up to the task and I have seen the piles of blown motors at Mossy to confirm my beliefs.Good luck though.

Tuan, when the weather clears, I'm sure people would be interested in seeing this car on Charles's dynojet. As many have discussed before, the only way to compare different cars to different cars, is to run them on an inertial based dyno (DYnojet). Load based dynos are incredible for tuning....as you have shown...not not so good for comparing one car to another.....on different dynos and different parts of the country.
Any plans for that?

And I do believe it's about TUNING. I'd be willing to bet that the pile of blown motors at Mossy was from turbo kits that came incomplete out of the box. These kits claimed to be safe and "complete" out of the box but who really believes that now? Everyone who was fortunate enough to not run into trouble with those kits began to look for solutions to address timing and boost spikes. Last but not least...almost everyone who has F.I. on this forum is taking heed to protect against a crank / cam angle sensor issue that effects some of our cars.
I think everyone understands that our engines have limits. However I don't think you can ever overstate the importance of good tuning.
