SGP packages?
I need some input on the SGP package. anyone have any experience with it? I was thinking about getting the "upgraded long block package" but havent decided yet. I will probably look into the JWT clutch or the Exedy clutch since the ATS is out of my budget as far as the whole process. here is the package again:
We are offering rebuilt short and long blocks. These will come with a 1 year warranty against "DEFECTS" or for $300 for the short block and $500 for the long block a 3 year warranty. Every spec for even the basic rebuilt shortblocks will be the same as we use in our race engines. With SGP oil control specs, Clearances, and ring gaps, you can feel secure that you will have the best rebuilt block in the country. We are also one of the very few companies that use a torque plate to bore and hone the cylinders for a truer assembled bore. Here are some of the packages available:

I am up and running with a SGP long block. I actually went a step further. 9.0 CR Custom quench pad Wiseco pistons Polydyn coated, Pauter rods, JWT cams, Ferrea valvetrain with 1mm oversize valves, titanium springs and retainers and a Nismo thermostat. The car is going back next week for a custom exhaust, open wastegates and final tuning. Right now I am breaking in the new motor, and it is very smooth. I will have Dyno numbers when the exhaust is done. No reason to tune twice. Feedback... SGP is the best shop I have ever worked with as far as knowledge, customer service and catering to all of my requests. They went way above and beyond of what I expected. I would highly recommend them.

I dunno...hasn't said anything about it on his threads...just that his gf/fiance` gave him the go-ahead to build the engine.

Ya I think I blew a head gasket at the track a couple of weeks ago. I got white/grey smoke comin out of my exhaust when it heats up. So thats why I might as well build it up.
Just to clarify, I basically did the Longblock #3 package, but without the JWT springs and retainers. I used Ferrea springs, retainers and 1mm oversized valves. I also added a Nismo thermostat, radiator and a bunch of other parts. I figured, might as well get it all done at once. You savealot of labor that way as opposed to doing it in phases.
noob question, but do you really need to get the longblock? most of the posts Ive seen say you have to beef up the bottom end, but dont mention the heads. what are the advantages you get for the extra $2K?
