Default Question about Stillen S/C

I have had the Stillen Stage II for 2 months and been somewhat pleased... I ordered the Red pully and they told me to use the same belt, but this pully is bigger than the other one and the belt won't fit! Also, its a 6 rib pully and the lower pully is only 4 ribs.... What am I missing here or did they ship the wrong pully... I was hoping to increase boost so shouldn't the red pully be smaller in circumfrence than the original black one??????? I don't know what to do?????

this is the one you are replacing, right? (mine is powdercoated so dont let the color throw you off). It should be larger than the old one, but have the same number of ribs. I think you are thinking that the new pulley goes on the supercharger, but it goes on the lower pulley assembly.

I ordered the pully that is red and it cost like 89 dolllars and is supposed to increase the Stillen Stage II to a Stage III and give me 7lbs of Boost. Is this pully located below the S/C on the motor and use the same belt as the one that turns the S/C pully? Maybe I should shoot myself.....LoL....

I'd like to know what your thoughts on performance increase is from stock to stage 2 and now to stage 3. You only learn after making mistakes :-)

yeah, don't sweat the mistakes, you learned something. I swapped the number 2 and 4 injector harnesses when I put mine back together the first time.

I'd like to know the difference also, as I have never had stage 2, just stage 3.

Thanks for the help! It's all fixed up now and it feels stronger...... The Stage II was a drastic improvement over Stock trim and lowerd my ET's in the 1/4 mile from 14.1 sec with minimal wheel spin to 13.56 sec with ALOT of wheel spin....
I am headed to the track tomorrow night to see what it can do now... I need a set of Nitto's, but I think that with some throttle feathering I will get close to 12.99 sec or at least that is my DREAM!

I'll keep yall posted on the results at the track......

Keep trying, my best run (on a very, very cool night) was a 12.8. I have run 8 times and have always been right around a 13 flat. I saw a video of 2003Z doing a 12.8.

Now I just have to put my 2.525 inch pulley in a see what happens.

What track do you run at? What was your 60ft and trap speed on your 12.8 run? Thats the best 1/4 Ive seen for a Stillen s/c on street tires. How much boost?

I ran the 12.8 at ESTA Safety Park Dragstrip (just north of Syracuse where my parents live). I had 2 runs. The 12.8 was the second and a stroke of luck. I don't remember the exact 60ft time, but it was below 2 seconds; I had a .555 light (I really got lucky and have never had anything like that again). My trap speed wasn't that high (105), the track hooked up like mad.

They had guys running slicks who were hooking up like mad. The winner of the street trophy class ran a sub 13 with a trap speed of 77 mph (or something absurd like that).

They are nuts up there, they have a sled class where the run souped-up, nitrous jetted, 1000+ CC snow mobiles down the quarter mile. Some of them were running sub 10.0's, a bunch of crazy hicks (it really was an awesome time).

I have run MIR but did not get below 13.2.

Right now I am stage 2 with 6psi, but that should be changing next week. I have the smaller pulley, but I don't just want to throw it in. I want to run a dyno with the 6 psi pulley, then switch and dyno to make sure the PSI, AF ratio, HP and Torque all agree with the engine. I will obviously post the results.

I am 6MT, it really isn't that hard to launch. I have found that with the stillen I get a great street launch by just hitting the gas and letting out the clutch (I don't rev to 4500 and then go, I just go). I get a good launch and maintain traction without having to feather the clutch (worried about longevity).

If I am really looking launch I rev and then feather the clutch.

Sometimes I have to granny shift a little in first.

What I really liked about the system is that it is the most like an OEM application. You just follow the directions and you are done, it's like having the options stock. You don't have to worry about all the things going wrong that others do.

I like the performance you get out of a V8, of the FI kits the stillen enhances the car the most. The engine just feels more powerful all around.

The Stillen isn't the biggest or the best, it is far and away the easiest.

Did you install it? How long is install on a Stillen? Turbonetics claims 8 hours to install their ST but its taking shops around 12-at least that's what they are charging....

I had a shop do mine, they charged me 10 hours of labor and said the instructions were great and the fit and finish was OEM like.

Mine was installed by a guy who has a small European Sports Car Performance Shop. It took him 15 hours and it looks FACTORY! The only thing he did to the Stillen Stage II kit was to add a bracket to the bottom of the intercooler resivoir tank so that it wasn't just held in place by the single ear tab that is supplied.....

I am getting my intercooler installed this week and should have by next Wed. I am very interested in the difference between II and III. I see it increases the boost from 5.7 to 7. That should be a big change. For $90 I think it will be in the works soon after the oil cooler and spacer are installed.
