So you have tried it on a/another car unsuccessfully?

Hope that makes sense. If someone has gotten it to work, I would like to talk to them. THE VQ ECU is very different from most.

Its funny because with my 05 I have yet to experience said rev limit. I can take the car all the way to redline with VCD off and have no problems in every gear..

Nissan tachs are notoriously lazy, so you just aren't going high enough.

My car has a 6400rpm limiter, confirmed via OBD logging, but when it kicks in, the tach is at 6800-6900rpm depending on gear.

Yes but isn't that what the hold time is supposed to do? Get past that short time of zero signal(s)?

Perhaps I misinterpreted its capabilities. If that's the case, then it's not good news for us VQ'ers.

As Ice asked, have you tried to advance the rev limit on a VQ engine? Even if it didn't work I'd really like to know if anyone has actually tried it.

Japanese are color blind...your tach "redline" is nowhere near the actual rev-limit or at least on my car, ie off by 300-400rpm maybe.

BTW, just kidding on the color blind comment.

Well it may look like us VQ guys are shi* outa luck for raising the rev limit. It would be good to see someone actually try it and see what happens...and report back here

I will give a full write-up soon, I am just to busy to sit in front of the computer this morning. But the final results where 10.1hp and a damn near perfect 12AF reading. There car has power where it was lacking before, I also had a couple of dips which eric and sharif ironed after playing for awhile. But yes my final HP number is 271.9whp. I will post dyno sheets later, but once again Thank You to Eric and Sharif as always there customer service far exceeds any I have delt with in this buisness. There know how about the VQ motor is awesome.

cool, not a bad power gain considering your car doesn't have cams or headers

the nice thing is the perfect A/F and that it and your timing won't be changing all the time

I started sorting out the wires lastnight after work.

Do we know if it can read the speed wire that the CAM signal outputs? (I believe that is correct anyway... I don't have the service manual right in front of me I'm in training all week.)

Everything seems pretty straight forward...

I'm not sure I would trust myself to turn the car over with the greddy in... But maybe if I can get a base map, then take it to the dyno again. =D

I tried tracing the speed sensor signal, and it is a pain. There is a thread about it in another emanage ultimate thread. I traced it going into the gauge cluster, I think it will work from there, but have yet to try. I have too many other things on the plate right now.

I guess it depends on your defination of better. The EU has several high end features, that Unichip lacks, but the Unichip is also a very capable tuning device. They tune the cars in slightly different ways.

On high boost cars, when the limits of the MAF are reached, the EU is going to be a better option...especially if you plan to run much larger injectors.

I've read thru the EU manual a few times now, looked over settings etc.

If I were to install the EU "WITH" the UniCHIP could I use the data logger to gather all the information needed to replace the uniCHIP with the EU @ the ~same~ settings?

(Read timing, read I/J Duty cycles, etc.)

Then just make a map to replace the uniCHIP.

(Since the Unichip actualy has LESS load points... And less overall features... I think it is substandard to the EU. However tuning on a load based dyno using the little injector/timing ***** would be VERY cool.)
