Hmmn. I'm still on the fence between UTEC and EU. At twice the price of the EU are there obvious and significant advantages to going with the UTEC over the EU?
PM me if you have opinions that you do not want to post. Thanks.
A GB would be a great way to promote entry into the market...too bad.

I think he meant respective
Advantages of a UTEC over an Emanage - off the top of my head:
plug and play installation...no wiring or soldering needed
Ability to adjust maps on the fly via the remote switch, and store multiple maps on the UTEC board itself
no need for even a windows based laptop...does it via Hyperterminal
MUCH easier to program (I find) than the E Manage. IN fact it's much easier to make adjustments on a UTEC than it is on any standalone I've ever used as well.

Why wouldnt it be warranted if its from a group by? To make people not want to purchase it from a group buy, so the price doesnt go down making the product look cheaper?

Thanks, thats some very impressive endoresements coming from Adam and Sharif.
I'd like to understand one thing regarding the install, is it truely a plug and play where it simply goes into the ECU slot and there is no wiring and no harnesses to buy like there is with the EU?
One other question also, my ECU has been reflashed by TNetics. I assume I do not need to go back to the base flash before using the UTEC?

it is 100% plug and play. Unplug your ecu from the harnesses - harness plugs into the utec, and ecu plugs into the utec....done.
You do not have to go back to your stock map if you don't want to. I assume you have a TN turbo kit? If so, by leaving it alone and plugging a utec in, this will be the map you are modifying. If you choose to get the remote switch, this will be your 0 Map. This means the UTEC is a pass through and is not involved in the operation of the ecu at all. So, if you are tuning, and get too far afield, turn the switch back to zero and you are back to your TN base map.
From there you can have 4 additional maps that can be stored on the utec....higher boost + pump gas - no problem. Race gas map? no problem. It truly is a world class setup that is very logically setup. Add in the TXS Tuner, and now you have a wideband plug and play engine mgmt solution so you can tune/datalog your car using real time wideband

I have a Power Enterprise TT kit installed, base boost, no reflash. I have been patiently waiting for something like this. I am not a tuner. Will there eventually be some base maps that will be useful for my application? I am especially interested in the ability to have engine management that is "boost aware".
The reflash to up the boost that is the current method for the PE kit is not, IMO, good for someone like me who is in Kentucky, not Cali. If the reflash caused me to run lean, I would be stuck running a dyno, mailing the ecu to cali with the dyno sheet, etc. Not good.
Next question: Who can tune the Z with this in the Kentucky area?
Thank you.

I have a few questions:
1) Can the unit control the speed limiter and rev limiter?
2) What are the biggest size injectors that this unit can support?
3) Can you control idle using this unit?
4) Can this unit read additional sensors in addition to stock sensors?
5) Can this unit compensate the fuel and/or ignition map based on the sensors readings?
Thanks,
Az

Hello Guys and maybe Girls,
As of 10/12/05 we have realeased MSRP of $1049 for the Z UTEC. We will be releasing much more information as the days get closer to the release date. We are doing some killer software changes that should make the UTEC top choice.
Now to answer your questions
I have a few answers
The UTEC will be able to control rev limit and speed limit. As of right now we are making software changes but if not in the initial release our software update will allow for these addition's. As will all of our UTEC's Upgrades, software is always free! That's right FREE!
We are using 650cc's as of now on Julian/MRC's Vehicle. I have no doubt in my mind that you wouldn't be able to use 1000cc's or larger.
We do have the ability to control idle because we will driving the DBW. This will not be available at initial purchase. Why do you need idle if I may ask? We are runing 650cc's and the car idles so nicely you can't even tell it is modfied.
Yes, the UTEC combined with the TUNER (AFR) can read EGT and Intake Temp.
The current software allows temp compensations for fuel and timing.
Thanks, Jermaine.
