What's the difference between a long or short block for FI applications in our cars?

Normally long blocks include the cylinder heads, etc and short blocks do not, just pistons, rods, crank, etc..

Rolling longblock = heads, block, crank, crank bearings, valves, cams, etc.
Longblock = block, heads
Shortblock = block
Rolling shortblock = block, crank, crank bearings, etc.

On any of them, you pick certain things such as cams, piston, rods, sleeves, etc.

I would say go for it. They've built dozens of VQ motors and they know what they're doing, and they stand behind their work.

I got the upgraded long block 3 but with Arias Extreme Duty pistons instead of the CP's.

you have to do the heads when you replace the short anyways so i figure going with the long is the way to go..

I have put 5K miles on my upgraded long block in about 2 months. everything done except valves and sleeves. I drove like grandma for the first 1K miles and the other 4K I have driven the car like I stole it. I am very happy with their work.

^ thats a good question. i would assume that you wouldnt be able to get cams, since our cams have the exhaust timing on them, but i could be wrong.

Hopefully this was by choice, but I have a feeling it wasn't. Sorry to hear about your misfortune..
