Default Unichip untuned?

Sup guys,
I was curious if any of you w/ APS TT or ST have experience w/ the unichip untuned. Is it safe? I'm sure I'll get flamed cause I know that w/ any FI kit tuning is always key. For curiousity sake, is the unichip w/ just base maps safe?

Sure, it's been done a lot. APS makes the base maps very safe, you just need to tell them if you are running 91 or 93 octane. My buddy has been running an untuned APS TT for about 6 months - he gets up to 8 or 9 psi I think. Go to grdperformance.com and talk to them, they are the best APS shop in the country. Or SGP since you are in Houston.

I see you are in Houston, so you should have SGP nearby to tune it if it comes to that. I ran my APS TT on an out of box tune and say low to mid 10's AFRs, so I would say it was decently conservative out of box. On the ST I isntalled, we say about 11.3-11.5 out of box, which is about as high as I would like to see an out of box tune.

I would recommend installing a wideband AFR to at least get an idea of what is going on if you don't plan to tune.

The out of box tune should be safe - relatively speaking, but a custom tune would be preffered.
