Question Tn + Ssv

what are you guys using for tuning? i'm looking into a utec but don't know any place to tune it. is there a preset program for this mod w/tn? My setup is Tn w/ just exhaust. I don't want to buy unnecessary stuff. Also when my car hits 6400rpm the motor pings and it starts losing power. why is that? i thought the power was atleast up to 7k rpm. thanks

You are pinging probably because the TN's ECU flash isn't really suited for your set up. You shouldn't boost it until you get UTEC and get it tuned.

I would like to know what your AFR is. Fuel pressure? boost pressure? etc. I don't recall anyone running the SSV without some sort of tuning

i'd like to know if your rod bolts are upgraded, and if not how long you expect the stock rod bolts to hold up to the high rpm use?

Please don't take it as if I'm being sarcastic I am not.

Are you sure you're not hitting the rev limiter as you call it "pinging"? What year is your car? 2005 non-revup and older have their rev limiter set at 6600rpm.

it could be my rev limiter. i thought tn reflash raised it. i have an 03'.
mia: i have not installed the ssv yet until i get everything needed for tuning and such.
the reflash is fine so far, My a/f is between 11.5/12 397rwhp. just would like to know what is the easiest tuning method before i spend a sh$t load of money for nothing. thanks

Unless you have a 5AT kit your rev limiter is set to stock. If you have a 6MT and are trying to hit 7000 you are DEFINITELY bouncing off the revlimiter...

Yeah, sounds like you're jsut bouncing off the rev limiter. If you really want to, you can raise it once you get the UTEC installed. Other than that, I'll just say that I'm not a fan of the SSV and prefer my plenum spacer/powdercoated plenum any day of the week.

it's usually a good idea to be sure of what they do before trying to rev to 7krpm and NOT REALIZING YOU'RE HITTING THE REV LIMITER!

btw: revving to 7k on stock rod bolts on your motor is going to put it at risk of throwing a rod. If you want to rev higher, put on some ARP rod bolts, get some cams (stock cams don't make much power higher up) and valvesprings.

Don't really need to tune the car for that mod that I have seen. If your afr is at 11.7:1 you are fine. Just stop hitting the revlimiter.

11.7 seems a little lean for the spacer......I've been running 10.8-11.2 but no leaner than that.

You can check Danzio Performance in Lake Eslinore. They can tune just about anything. www.danzioperformance.com Them or GT Motorsports in Rancho Cucomanga.
