No more rebuild? Did I read that right, Bert? That turbo kit and accessories would pull in a nice down payment on a bike.....sorry, you know I gotta get you on two wheels now. It'll make you forget all about the dead VQ!

You'll go from to I gotta be careful getting on my Gixxer. It gives me wood so hard and so fast, it jerks me clean out of the seat! lol. The Z couldn't do that!

Look on the bright side - you're one step closer to the first ST in the 10's.

Good luck with the rebuild.

To be safe, I am having Sharif take a look ASAP! Thankfully, he is closer to me now, lol.

Between you and Jet going down, with similar numbers as mine, this is making me consider a new project, lol. 30k takes my car right now, any takers???

ON a side note, I wish you luck with your rebuild and I am sure Sharif or 350zdcalb will help you out. With a built bottom end and your set-up, 475-500 whp will be easily attainable.

I'm not suprised it blew at 4000 rpms though instead of in the higher rpms. I mean by 4000 you're running full boost and that's right where the engine naturally makes peak torque - where it's the most sensitive. Then combine that with how hard and fast the turbo spools up, it makes sense to me that people a lot of times end up blowing the engine at around 4000-4500 rpms as opposed to something like 6000 rpms.

still though, sucks that it happens

so the engine was detonating a few times in the winter?

Sorry to hear about your loss bro.
A lot of us have been watching you for guidance.
I'm sure you will keep schooling us though.
The rebuild should be an all new ground up project for you.
How much is a rebuild running these days anyways. I figure all F/I guys need to prepare for this possibility anyways. I know I will once I do have the boost.
Soon enough your Z will be in a different league. Keep us posted on your progress please. You still have a kick *** Z...

Thanks man appreciate the kind words. I share all my experiences good and bad so people can follow the good and learn from the bad. To do a basic built block-forged internals on stock sleeves + labor to swap in is about $6500. Of course I wont do just that as Ill likely sleeve (add roughly $2000-2500) and add cams and valvetrain to rev higher safely (1200-1400) + tuning + price of a new block cuz obviously mine is crap, you see it adds up FAST.

Senty-the car detonated on the stock TN flash thats why I went with the UTEC, injectors, fuel system, and tune. I had experienced inaudible detonation before while datalogging but that was due to bad gas, after the tune the car didnt detonate and ran great.

Its a Varis Air Duct-look up SPL parts on here (SN = sfarrah) they usually have them in stock as they are kinda hard to find.
