![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I am getting my Vortech installed as we speak and I have a question about the 3.12 pulley and the SS Box...
I know the kit is tuned out of the box for the 3.33 pulley... What if you put the 3.12 pulley on and bypass the 3.33 pulley altogether... Will the SS be able to handle that without a tune for a bit?? I would like to drive it for a month at least before I go for a tune so I can troubleshoot any problems without 2nd guessing were the problem came from....
Thanks!!

Ok, so it would be safer to install the 3.33 pulley for the first month to trouble shoot, then go with the 3.12 w/ a tune at the same time...
Can the stock SS box handle mods like Kenitex Resonated Test Pipes, HKS Exhaust and Crawford Plenum out of the box?
Or should I just say Fug it and get the tune ASAP!
Thanks!

The SS box can be tuned for alot of mods, but it's supposed to be archaeic and kind of painful.
I'm running the SS box with the mods in my signature. Unless I decide to go for more boost later, I'm good with the SS box.

OK, Cool thanks for the input... I actually installed the pulley amongst other things on the kit. I have been hangin at the shop to learn as much about the kit as I can (cool guys they let me work w/ them).
I am just gonna leave the 3.12 in there and sched a tune by Thurs next week. I drive about 100 miles a day anyway so I should have a good idea on how she runs.
Thanks. (can't wait to get her back today!)

I am getting it done at Caliente in the Air park Auto Tech.
I like the guys there alot... This is however, their 1st Vortech instal... I have been at the shop alot looking things over as it progressed, even lending a hand on the bracket and some of the piping.
I am going to Dyno Comp for the tune... Do you need to make an appointment there for a tune?
thanks

Don't be surprisd if they can't tune the smaller pulley with the stock setup, the MAF might run out of voltage to tune, you will probably need bigger fuel pump and maybe larger injectors.

The SS tunes in a unique way, it is not as simple as reducing the MAF signal and you are set you have to start at a set point and reduce the signal but if you start already high you run out of room.

I was only referring to the smaller pulley and not maxing the MAF.. Totally agree with upping the fuel delivery..for a safe A/F ratio..The tuning of the fuel map is made simpler when you have ample fuel delivery...

Sorry for any confusion . With the 3.12 pulley and the stock fuel system you will be fine.. Many posters are and still run this way.. All thats being offered is with an enhanced fuel system you get a safer and easier to tune F.I. car...

if u want to put the 3.12 on, i'd do it before u place the bracket and blower in the car. Its a pain in the *** if u want to put it on later, cuz i just did it. and you should be fine with the 3.12 on the full vortech kit and ss box. My tuner didn't have any problems. Alot of people have run it and have been fine. However i would get it tuned asap and not boost it, especially if you are running other mods, just to be on the safe side. Good luck.

Ya, I got the 3.12 pulley in there and keeping it there. I am going in for a tune next week after I put 500 miles on her... I will not boost her and keep her under 4K rpms until I can get her tuned.
Would 440 RC injectors w/ the stock Vortech fuel pump be ok to run?
thanks for all the help
