I agree with those points. If you look at who I QUOTED though, he said that a 500rwhp VQ will build more tq and than a 600rwhp Supra and the Supra will have an on/off powerband. Thats simply not true at all especially at 600rwhp. I am sure the VQ will do quite well. But most of the people in this post have never driven or ridden in a single turbo Supra. They are basing their opinions on a bunch of stereotypes that are outdated.

Yea Vinny and myself have had many discussions, about this... While he remains "Mr. 2JZ"... He loves the VQ. There are only a hand full of Supra TT's made. VS NA Z's looking for FI... The market for FI VQ motors is where it's at... Untill the GT-R Motor is out.

Default Fearsm !!!!!!!!

Sorry , I didnt explain my point completly to make my post shorther!!! (my bad)

what I mean is,On a Single turbo supra!!!!!!!!(most people ditch the twin setup for single due to cost $$) the hp powerband will be more like a on/off switch to much lag for the street on high power supras( I`m talking about 800-900hp like someone mention). On the other hand the Vq will be more fun to drive lots of tq around the powerband.Compare a 600whp 2jz vs a 500whp VQ35 dyno sheets and the Vq will have more TQ in the powerband(thats what i really mean)

Now with the new ball bearing turbos coming out ,spool up time in the single turbo 2jz are coming way lower than before with more top end.

I now TOYOTA HAVE A LOT OF GREAT ENGINES (like the 3tc engine), What I did was to mention the most Know and newer. If I was going to mention all of then is another story ,even for NISSAN, I didnt mention the L24, L26,L28 ,rb20,rb25,etc...I just dont want to go so early in the past!!!!!!

People have to understand that the RB26 and the 2jz are RACE DETUNED ENGINES used on sport production cars of that years!!Those engine are as bulletproof that can be out of a production line. The VQ is all about weight and technology, high hp less boost = less strees in the engine.

Hope this clear any missunderstood of my other thread!!!!!

P.S. I have been in a 600whp supra , I used to have a 1988 300zx with a rb26dett 600whp (single TO4r turbo)and belive me there some serious difference in the powerband. In the other hand I drove a 500whp 350z a few weeks back , and that was the experience that make up my mind(I was saving $$$ to do a rb26dett in my G35) the power is there at all times a really all around performance car!!!

I got my ***** handed to me last night by a supra. He claimed to have had over 500hp which he later verified by showing me him laptop. Him and his chicka where driving around tuning with the AEM engine management. It was a single turbo, stock bottom and I think stock turbo. I knew I was going to loose but he was a sport and said I had a nice car.

PS. He had 130,000 miles. WOW!

simple fact is as someone stated, they're built for boost from the factory. Closed deck block, forged internals, beefy crank, and stock injectors that can make something like 500whp.

Other than that, the VQ makes better torque and has a better powerband than the supra.

I've got a buddy who had an 800whp setup on his supra, with a T72....but he got bored of it and is in the midst of building an 1100whp setup (this time he's getting internals for it, haha!) he works with Matt Scranton's drag team.

Yes well that should be the typical outcome. Even with FI Z's and G's from what i've always observed.

My friend has a MK2 supra.. He has the 7mgte motor in it w/ a 60-1 turbo, a lot like the TN kit turbo here. He rebuilt the entire car. It puts out 404rwhp/400trq. Redlines at 8500 rpm. FULL race motor on a small turbo..

It has no low end torque, it builds boost slow at first, then all of a sudden it hits around 4000rpm. Hes running a small turbo and hes planning for a T67setup..
He used to run the MK2 tranny whcih was NA and topped out at 130mph. He switched to the MK3 turbo tranny which tops out around 180 or 190. After the tranny swap, his car felt maybe twice as fast. Its all in the gearing

Shifting at 25mph in 1st gear w/ 400hp 400trq is like driving on ice. Its pretty insane. Im waiting for audiblemayhem and see what kinda numbers he'll put out. Hes supposed have 600+rwhp w/ a 200shot of nitrous and TT as well as a auto race tranny. That'll show the Z's real ptential on a drag track
Actually the R154 Tranny from the MK3 Supra is geared only for 172 mph. I know, I had one and I topped it out and Supra owners will confirm this.

Wow. Some of your responses in this thread have just made me go. This one is no exception.

How much do you really know about forced induction? I may not be an expert, but I know making generalized statements like this is completely rediculous.
