Default FI Break-in period?

I'm going to be new to the world of F/I and would like to know if there is some kind of break in period on turbo kits?
After my APS TT kit goes in, I'll have a long trip back home and it will be extremely difficult to resist the urge to hit WOT

Hopefully you'll also get it tuned after the install, so if you do its ready to get put to use...

Awesome! Not the answer I was expecting, but definitely the one I was hoping for.
Yes, she will be tuned. Unless plans change, I plan on taking her to SGP in Houston.

I assumed this was on a stock motor/broken in clutch, if your buildiing Id go easy first 500-1000 miles then kill it. The turbos are spun in testing no break in required.

You guys bashing the out of box tune are funny. My car runs fantastic on the out of box tune. I even gave a ride to a local tuner and he was impressed. My A/F is 10.5-11.0 at WOT which is perfectly safe. The car pulls hard to redline without any hesitation. Hell, I even broke-in my 06 motor with the out of box tune.

out of the box tune is like a box of cake mix... most times you can't tell the difference once the cake is done... however when its done from scratch and done right.. the difference in taste is huge

Interesting analogy...very well put.

Nismo350ZRT: I'm sure the out of box tune is probably good enough. But when I put this much money into the car I'd like to have that added piece of mind. Plus, a good tune could land you a couple of extra ponies

Thanks for the input people.

No your funny. Hows your timing? Do you even know? What is it at redline and TQ peak? "Safe" doesnt mean optimal. Why would you spend $7500+ on a TT kit and not spend $500 on tuning to make it run as good as you can on your particular car especially if you have a tuneable EM? Because its "safe enough" is a stupid answer/mentality, and not all of us share in that mindset. +1 on what Doug said, good luck with your out of box tune....

Oh Ablerto, always an overreaction from you. I'm running on the 91 octane map which has conversative timing. My power level is moderate at 7 psi and timing is not a problem. I haven't had any signs of detonation. If I were running on the 93 octane map at 9 psi with 91 octane gas you'd have a point. But no I'm not, I'm running on 94 octane. So take your snide comments and blow me.

So what your saying is you dont know anything about your timing. Exactly what I expected from somebody with a mindset like you.
