Some examples are going to be completely custom one-off set. There are no aftermarket gear sets for the 350z.

Try well known gear manufacturers, Liberty Gears is one. I dont think you relize the cost and time it would take to make a gear set. Your talking several several thousands of dollars, and even when its made you just wasted your money as the stock gears are strong. The gears are not the problem in these transmissions.

Exactly, it's the synchro engagement gear that's braised onto the 3rd gear main. I've been looking into getting it electron beam welded so that it won't fail...but I've yet to find a place that's willing to do it. A custom one piece 3rd gear might be the only answer.

What's broken on your trans? Probably cheaper to fix it than replace it.

Does the shift lever actually go into the 3rd gear position or not? If it does go into the third gear position does it act like a false neutral? When third gear "failed" did the car vibrate a ton for a split second??

PAR Engineering in Australia makes gear sets for our car. I beleive they are custom, and not cheap. About $4200 U.S., but they come with a straight cut syncho set.

PM me if you want contact information.

at first it was like that. but now it goes all in and doesent drive at all. so when in third gear it is like in neutral.

when i first noticed that is was braking it was like that... the whole car vibrated as Fck!

You need to contact them. I'll PM you the telephone number and e-mail for my contact there. I believe that they custom make gear sets to order. Thus, there will be no "kitt" until you order it.

Definitely the same issue I have right now. Your third gear engagement ring separated itself from the main gear. The good news is the rest of your trans is fine. The bad news is unless you can buy just third gear from PAR, you're going to have a very expensive build on your hands if you want to make sure it won't break again.

PAR "should" offer the gears individually if asked....

Here is a pretty good video that talks about the differences between gear types, synchro and dog engagment, and the such.

This should be informative for those not familiar with this type of stuff.

PPG is the name of the company, and it doesn't look like they have an application for our cars at this point but who knows what the future may bring.

Here is a link to their website.

I have one of their straight cut dog boxes in my DSM, no clutch WOT shifts are interesting to say the least.
