Default Does Anyone Run Or Familiar With The FCON iS?

I'm considering this more economical HKS ems instead of staying with my Unichip, going with the UTEC or going all out $ with F-Con V Pro. Does anyone know how this compares to the Unichip or UTEC? Can the iS resize injectors? Any MAF issues like the Unichip?

"The HKS F-Con iS is the latest evolution of HKS' piggy-back engine management systems. The iS features the same proven fuel and timing control as the SZ and S, but also incorporates data correction for close-loop A/F feedback from the factory Oxygen Sensor. Also CPU performance has been improved by 25%."

I understand most if not all are better than the classic Unichip, but I may want to wait to go all out on a stage 2 of my build in a year or so with the most costly V Pro. A compromise would be to go with the UTEC or iS now and upgrade later. With F-Con iS you have to get the same harness you must get with the V Pro anyway.

Please give me some input.

Hey Brian, the FCON IS is one of the best piggbacks out there, but it does have its limitations.

Another cost effective approach, is do stall the FCON "Basic" package which myself, GTM, and AAM are offering for under $3000 installed and tuned. This is a much better approach, IMHO.

Thanks Sharif, can you explain it's limitations?

It is still relying on the stock ECU, and makes changes to those signals, rather than generating its own signals. Don't get me wrong, its probably the best signal modifier on the market, but for a little bit more money, the FCON offers full stand alone features, very good tuning control, and expandability.

With the IS, you still need to purchase the FCON harness, just as a reminder.

I understand the advantages of the FCON over the iS. I would be able to upgrade in the future to the FCON since the iS requires the same FCON harness.

I'm more trying to compare it to the classic Unichip and UTEC. Can you resize injectors with it? Any major advantages/disadvantages to the UTEC?

Really no comparison between the Unichip Classic and the IS. The UTEC is a little different. The UTEC does take full control over fuel and timing under boost, so in that sense, it is superior. The IS is a signal modifying unit, that relies on the stock ECU. The unique feature of the IS, is its ability to take factory wideband sensor inputs, and make adjustments to AF to compensate for any changes the ECU can make. This makes it better than something like an eManage Ultimate, or the Unichip.
