Default Driving untuned Turbonetics ST

Hi, I am currently installing a Turbonetics ST kit with RC 440cc injectors and a UTEC...I was wondering, will it be safe to drive an hour 30 to the dyno if I dont get into boost...or will the bigger injectors and UTEC hurt my engine?

I don't think the utec will do anything til it's told to reprogram. Don't quote me!! U don't have the reflash on the ECU? Tuner kit?! $ sure I wouldn't boost!

I would think he would be running rich if anything LONG AS THERE IS NO BOOSTING...which is safe.

Default turbonetics utec map

I think I saw a turbonetics single turbo map on the TurboXS UTEC download page. It might be worth a shot, and I would think much safer than an N/A stock map. Anybody......anybody........

But still don't get into boost.

Is it worth risking your engine to save a few bucks to tow? :P

I did it with mine. I was extremely easy on the car. didn't take off hard and kept it under 3000rpm. I did just fine. I don't think its a bad idea as long as you can control yourself. I wanted to get on it so bad to feel the new power. I would check out the turboxs site as well and run the TN tune. Just as an added precaution. The only reason I did it cause I had to drive the car home that night from the shop that did the install and it ran fine to me. If it weren't for that I would have had it towed. I drove the same distance you stated.

Default TurboXS TN map

I see turbo XS has a couple turbonetics maps available. Might be good enough to get you to the tuner. Here is the link:

It will be fine as long as you don't boost (stay under 3k rpms and take it easy). Besides, with those injectors you think it would be running rich anyway, assuming you are also running the reflash, right?

Anyway, if no reflash, be VERY careful with how you drive. Remember you're doing this at your own risk.

Just don't decide to test that theory by boosting...

It will be fine. Just dont get into boost at all. Drive like there is an egg under the gas pedal.

I can't believe all most everyone is recommending driving it. It only cost me $50 to rent a trailer for the day.

Would you also trust a women you just got with that night, that she was on birth control. Nooo. Just looking out for your interest. It seems you have a ways to go, speaking of driving.

Why does it matter? If he doent get into boost I dont see the problem. If he doesnt get into boost what would mess up the motor? The bigger injectors? haha

Keep in mind if you have the reflash its leaning out the motor quite a bit as it expects 380cc injectors. With 440cc you should be fine but why risk $10,000 to save $100

If you had to drive it down the street, I would say go for it. But what if you have to suddenly accelerate to avoid something on the road, or an emergency of some kind. Once your foot dips into the boost, bad things can happen, especially since you arent running the reflash (at least I dont think you are) as backup.

I say, dont take the risk.

meh, I drove 13 hours from Miami to CPR in NC with an untuned Greddy TT and built long block. Just stay out of boost and you'll be fine.

I would remove the UTEC if it is not tuned. The car should start with the 440cc injectors. My car started and ran with the HKS ST and PE 510cc injectors on stock ECU after I went through the Throttle and IAVL learning procedure. The car ran rich and I kept the revs stable not to build boost and drove to the shop to get the FCON tuned.
