vortech FAQ: read this before asking vortech questions
I have the AAM fuel system but it's the basic one without the rails and I also have a walbro 255. Theyre all new and havent been on the car yet. I had to take off the vortech FMU. I'm also on stock injectors. Will I have fuel issues if I run the 3.12 or even the 2.87? I'm not mechanical so please let me know what I need to be safe. I plan on getting larger injectors and probably fuel rails if needed, just not right now.
you will run out of fuel without at LEAST 440cc injectors.
there's no way with a 3.12 pulley (on a non-revup setup assuming all things being the same as the expected non-revup pulleys) that you'll be able to feed those cylinders without an FMU to increase the fuel pressure. At the stock 3 bar or 3.5 bar of pressure you'll be maxing those injectors out at less than 4.5K rpm. you would need larger injectors even to run something as basic as the 3.33 pulley if you're not running any type of FMU setup.
I generally believe that you could only use stock injectors if you're using the out of the box configuration on the full kit. If you make any changes, you need to change your injectors. I personally did not, and would never, run any type of FI on this car with the stock injectors - that simply frightens me.
Spend a few hundred dollars now to upgrade the fuel system (including injectors), or spend thousands later to replace your blown engine.

I have the aam fuel return and a walbro waiting to be installed. No rails though...do I need the aam rails too? And yes I am looking for 550 cc injectors and won't boost the car until theyre in.
This is the set-up I am currently putting together for my 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT (Rev-up). Are there any changes people would recommend, and what could I expect for RWHP?
The Basics:
Rev-up Vortech Tuner Kit w/V-3
Deatschwerk Injectors (Went with the 600's)
255lph Fuel Pump
AAM Fuel Return System (Basic)
Osiris w/ Dyno tune
Motordyne MREV2
Kinetix Upper Plenum
Kinetix High Flow Cats
Stillen True Dual Exhaust
Minor mods:
ACT Clutch & Flywheel
Quaife LSD
4.08 Final Drive
Things I am Debating:
UR Pulley (Stock Diameter)
Gauges I need?? (Looking at Defi')
Anything else people would suggest?
My goal is to try and hit the 400 RWHP mark. I'm leaning towards the 600cc injectors, but AAM said that even the 440cc injectors would be overkill. I do plan on getting the smaller pulley in the future, but that would be down the road.
Opinions?
Suggestions?
Flames?
Thanks,
Ian

I wouldn't ... an N/A reflash is typically very aggressive with timing and that could cause you some problems. However, if you're running a UTEC with a good map, you won't have an issue as the UTEC will take over timing as soon as you get into boost.
Hope that helps.

I guess this is a question I should know, but the cog pulley, does it come in different diameters? I'm looking to get the 2.87 & I would like a cog, but Vortech's site doesnt list the cog in different sizes.
Look here ...

They're listed by teeth, less teeth = smaller pulley and vice versa. You have two choices, swap out the jackshaft pulley or the one on the super charger.
Also, don't forget that you need to calculate how fast you'll be spinning the SC at redline. You can run the risk of exceeding the max RPM of the blower with smaller pulley combinations.

I have a 03 5AT and I'm running 7# boost. Anyone have any ideas how to get the tranny to shift faster with this new power. I HAVE A STILLEN SHIFT KIT ALREADY INSTALLED. When I drag race it, it shift too slow and the engine goes up and hits the rev limiter between shifts. If I shift at lower rpm's it shifts quick, but i lose the advantage of the higher rpm's.
I am shifting 1000 rpms before redline and it is still hitting the limiter.
Any ideas? Love the S/C

I am curious about the valvebody too. Are all shifts improved or primarily 1st to 2nd? Did you do anything with the torque converter? I have the stock auto and my shifts are just as sloppy as fowlman01 describes.
I'm not sure what vortech unit or what pulley I have. It was installed around 05 and I was running 9 lbs of boost. I haven't counted the teeth on the pulley as I don't have the car right now. I want the 2.87 though. Is the best way to get this by calling vortech?

Or, check the classifieds. You need to make sure that your combination of jack shaft and cog pulleys doesn't spin the SC beyond its limit. So make sure you know what cog pulleys you have before upgrading.
