Default Oil catch can question.

I bought a catch can on ebay, I know. Ebay sells junk, but it was cheap and it looks good.

My question is this, is there anything in the catch cans or is it just an empty box. I opened mine to expect something but found nothing. Just want to know if this is a worthless piece of junk or if its how they all are.

I done this and it's nice. I saw it on Sharif's car before I found it here, for I need to spend more time in this section. I routed my hoses a little better and cleaner.

Instead of a catch can I did a filter:

Does the same thing except using a filter to drop the oil down. Mine, of course, doesn't hold 4 quarts of oil

On a similar note, it doesn't get more than half-full between oil changes.

I had the larger version of that separator, but it had some vacuum leaks. Those separators are designed to work with pressures over 100 psi, not for vacuum situations.

I was told by several to remove the filter in the inside. For it's a water/air filter only. IMHO oil would clog over time with this type of filter. But you might not of had any problems with yours.

I have been using this same set up (minus the filter on the inside) for 4K hard FI miles and it works great under boost and vacuum.

Correct ----Remove it. In the case of the real catch Cans, you can go down to the supermarket and pick up a "Chore Boy" Pot scrubber in stainless or copper to help on separation. They are VERY course and have no restrictive propertys

I'll pick up the filter tomorrow. I'll throw some pics up of the catch can too, just for fun.

Yeah I had absolutely no problems with mine... but I will go ahead and remove the filter since everyone's screamed at me to do so

It didn't seem very restrictive at all... when running, the oil in the bottom did a lil whirlpool-like effect like there was a miniature tornado goin on in there. (and no leaks from what I could tell)
