Default possible pinging?

So im heading downtown last night, and as im on the bridge with the concrete dividers, i get a nice sound feedback on my car. As i got on it into full boost, i would hear a high metal tapping sound, not consistent, just one then a second later another. Ive heard this before, but many days its not there. My af is sub 11.5 throughout this. Nothing is rubbing or tapping its too intermettent. Has anybody else had this issue on the reflash?
Thanks.

You absolutely sure its pinging. Rubbing or contact can be intermittent also. I hate to sound like a broken record but get your car on a dyno and check the AFR across the power band. If its pinging you will definitely hear it on the dyno. If its just something tapping against something else you should be able to figure that out as well.

Im dynoing end of the week. The thing is its intermittent not consistent, thats what leads me to believe its not somethng rubbing.
Will report back after dyno.
Thanks.

Your description sounds like knock. Even with rich AF ratios, you can still knock. What are you planning to tune it with? Or has it been custom tuned?

I upgraded my injectors on my last setup thinking that a richer mix would keep things "safe" but learned that even with sub 11 AFR's you can get nasty ping problems. Your issue sounds exactly like mine did about a year ago. Long story short, my engine didn't make it. If you can hear ping with your ears (no headphones) while running down the road, chances are it's already pretty bad... The stock pistons can start to pit pretty badly at this point which can ultimately lead to engine failure. Get it on a dyno and see how much timing you're running throughout the RPM range. Usually pulling a bit of timing can help.

What RPM's are you noticing it with? Is there a specific range, i.e. 2500-3500 rpm, etc. Depending on your engine management, the problem could be with your factory ecu pushing too much timing early on.

Anyway, good luck.

Utec soon, waiting on possibly a tuner flying into vancouver to tune.
Custom tune right now is the reflash.

Im noticing it in the upper rpms say 4500 ish and up.
How would i data log the timing with the reflash? Is it even possible?

Definately stay out of boost until you get this resolved.
