Default Worst Case Scenerio for my engine(Next week)

im burning a lot of oil on my 03 right now and the dealer is gonna take a look at it next week
i love my Z too much to give it up, if i am burning oil and for some reason my warranty is voided(boltons) , if i rebuild my engine + inspection, etc. and forge the internals, that would fix everything?
i have a feeling its like my rings or something thats causing it to GUZZLE all that oil
i was planning to go to GTM in the future for a turbo build, i just didnt know future ment like in a few weeks

replacing certain internal compnents of the eninge may fix your burning problem. You need to know exactly what is causing the burning before you can know what would fix it.

thats true...i have a feeling that whatever it is, GTM is probably more capable of fixing it than these guys at the local dealer, unless they wanna give me a new motor, lol
i think its safe to assume its something internal, maybe my bottom end since i havent seen any oil on the ground
i guess only time will tell

I'm not positive. I'm thinking that changing out the PCVs is part of the 30k or 36k standard service? I'd have to check in the service manual.

I just looked, and they inspect emissions systems at 30k and 60k miles. Might be worth a try.

if your oil consumption is from low tension rings a high performance rebuild could yield similiar results since many ring sets offer low tension for the oil rings ,i would expect that any replacement would exeed o.e. quality though.with 46k i would guess you guides are o.k.and if you didnt check that pcv yet i would replace it right away,a bad one will pull huge amounts of oil vapor into the combustion chamber.hope this helps

Well guys im in the same boat as him. I have an 03 one owner with 76,000 on it and I dont drive it in the winter. I know lots of miles. Ive been burning alot of oil lately myself. I brought my Z in a couple of days ago to nissan. They called me yesterday and told me I had exsessive blow bye through the rings and I need an engine. I was drivieing the other night on the hiway and i lost power. It was running fine, but sounded like crap when you reved it. Right then and there I new the motor was smoked.
So they call me and tell me its going to cost 8500 to fix it. Im like what that's a fully built motor for that price. I almost passed out. So I told the guy Im leaveing the car there.
I was telling my buddy what had happened. He told me to call nissan and complain. I work for a honda dealership. (tech) I was like ill just rebuild the motor over the winter. He was like it wouldnt hurt they might help you out and give me a motor. Well I know when you blow a motor in a honda and it has less then 100k on it. Your pretty much all set to get a free engine. As long as you show that you've serviced the car. theres no reson why a z with this many miles should need an engine. I dont race it or drag it. And Iv'e always changed the oil at 2500 miles.
I hopeing they just fix it for now until I can save up for a built motor and tt's.
