when to change spark plugs
I found alot of posts about what plugs people are using them, but how often shoudl they be changed. RUnning TN kit. Also seems like it is getting harder for my engine to turnover, could spark plugs be the cause?
higher cyl pressures consume plugs, pull one and see what it looks like!if you compare your plugs to a plug chart you might get some insight to your tune and engine condition.i use plugs as an early warning to potential issues and change often just as a window to whats going on.
I pull them out from time to time and check how they are. Like it was said above, the plugs can tell you a lot about what is going on inside the cylinder. NOw, if your running boost or nitrous, i dont know, but just pull them out, doent take to long.
if im taking the time to check them all i replace them at the same time, besides it gives your next test or window a fresh start.every build is not the same so i would go by what the car wants,it's one place that overkill wont hurt.
With the richer mixtures people are running with FI, it would be a good idea to check them every 5000 miles, and change them every 10K miles. They are cheap, and no sense in skimping on them. In theory, Iridium plugs can last for 75K on an NA car.
