/\ FWIW you don't really loose that much power, It's like having the MREV2, the power just shifted a little early. If I'm not mistaken, he hit his Peak HP at around 6000rpm with the old piping, and now he hit Peak HP at around 5600-5700rpm. I think it is better coz the power is very usable on street driving plus most shop suggest to ship around 6000rpm when FI and stock block anyways.

Here, this will give you an Idea since goosegoose graph is very close to mine. You can see that I hit Peak HP arond 5650rpm

hmm that looks like an advantage. For whatever reason I thought it dropped by like 20 hp. Do you have a plenum spacer?

1) The stock cats and exhaust are restricted in flow at this boost level, the set up is not the most efficient way to turbo a car you know.
2) The New intake piping runs closer to the auto tranny and cats and does absorb alot of heat. The timing map I had to run was much less aggressive than the previous map, especially around the peak TQ area.
3) The exhaust gasses going to the turbo, if allowed to flow better with an aftermarket exhauste, would most likely aid in spool up time.
4) larger intercooler couldn't hurt..

Another facotr is Auto cars are much harder to dyno consistantly as far as boost spooling..

Both of us still have stock CAT so that could be the bottleneck on the upper rpm.

Do you think the nismo mid pipe is hurting your spool? Teg hit 10psi at 3700rpm and I see your Peak TQ at 4600rpm.

It think Daniel should add all of this Dyno on the first page coz after awhile it is hard to find. Goosegoose dyno is on page 12 (i think).

This nismo mid pipe interests me as well. Do you have any specs on it?

Yeah I am just as confused about that as you are. I have no idea why it does that? Nobody has really commented on it in the past.

In a sense I think the larger midpipe does hurt my spool up time because it is just a larger heat exhanger than the stock mid pipe. However, I think it does a better job of getting exhaust gases to the turbine but at the expense of losing more heat to the atmosphere. I believe heat management (whatever that may be) is the key to achieving faster spool with our kits. Also that is using the utec BCS which the map may or may not have been adjusted for the best spool up rate. I am going to replace it with a the HKS EVC shortly. Also, I suspect that I have a boost leak somewhere...my idle sucks and that dyno chart looks odd.

I had a nismo exhaust on before I put the turbo on so I was forced to use it. It does not bolt directly up to the turbo piping. I had to cut the nismo mid pipe and weld on a new flang which was a pain in the *** without a welder at my house. I had to use bondo to get the flang positioned right. Best bet would be to go to an exhaust shop and have them bend a mid pipe for ya. I should have done that but oh well.

Oh yeah forgot that I also have the nismo Y pipe on.

**Edit

I just bought a HKS EVC 6 so I am giving up on the utec BCS. Maybe this will help with spooling like it helped Daniel. Guess I am going to have to go back to SGP to get tuned after all.

It is really hard to catch the sound on video. The video don't do justice There are some videos on the first few page. I guess maybe because you have a full upgraded exhaust. I still have stock exhaust and CAT and mine is pretty quiet and I love hearing my Turbo spool with window up or down. I can even hear the turbo whine without hitting positive boost or just cruising.

I think John may have dynamatted the inside of his rear and significantly reduced the cabin noise. Maybe he'll chime in here
