Turbonetics (Open Wastegate)
I was thinking of running open wastegate on my turbonetics kit. What are the pros and cons and difficulty in doing/installing? I know I need some sort of blockoff plate, if so where can I buy it?

DO IT ! ! ! I love scaring the S*** out of people as I drive down the street. You can actually use the TN piping and one of the pipes you can cut in half and then rotate it 180 and mount it. Then you have cut a little bigger opening in the under tray so that you dont melt the thing like MIA said.

ok now I see somewhat what you did, now where do I get that pipe from... and correct me if Im wrong but the reason you use that pipe is to vent the hot air through a hole you open on the bottom black plastic not to melt them right???

Where is the TN pipe that I need to cut located? I would also assume that I need to gasket both the wastegate and the pipe I cut connected to the wastegate right.. and off topic 93 gas here is $3.20/gl what is everyone else pumping/price?
Im guessing this is the pipe you are referring to that you need to cut. Which is the pipe the wastegate exhaust goes connected to. What in the other end of this pipe and w.e. it is you need to block it off right?

No, that's not the one you cut. That's the wastegate discharge pipe. That's the one you would put the block off plate on. First question to me would be, do you have the old style piping or the newer wastegate relocation pipe? I think that makes alot of difference if you have the old one.
So far as open dump. Go for it. I love it. Sounds so mean. I never get tired of it. I guess you'll have to make up your own opinion about it.

Thanks, how can I find out if I have the old piping or new one? I have the graphite colored pipes not the silver ones if that makes any difference in determing if I have old ones or new ones. however from the above picture it does look like the one they cut. just my 2 cents...btw any audio on how the TN sounds with open dump?
See in the pic that TayTay posted. That's the old style piping for the turbine housing inlet. The wastesgate is mounted directly off the pipe. The newer pipe, know as the wastegate relocation is basically the same pipe with an added outlet that juts off that pipe to move the wasetgate further out. Then they also add another pipe, in the shape of a "U" that comes from the bottom the wastegate and attaches to the pipe you posted. That U pipe would be the one you cut and the pic you posted should be blocked off. This is how it's setup on my car. I hope this makes some since.
Now I could be a little wrong on the older style. And from what I can tell, you would have to turn the wastegate 180 degree's and attach a small downpipe to vent the hot gases away from other parts.
