Well, they're not oil cooled. They may use a little oil as lubricant with the ball bearings, but honestly I really don't know.

The JWT turbos are water cooled, true, and I think the Greddys are as well, but they both have substansial oil lines going to them, indicating that they use oil lubrication.

Common sense would also tell you there is some sort of lubrication going on, and it sure ain't water. Thus, oil. And thus, the chance of coking at high temps.

That may have been true 15 years ago, but doesn't really apply to today's turbos. With water cooled jackets (which are still cooled by oil), you shouldn't see substantial coking even with no turbo timer.

Besides, who in real life does a high boost run, and immediately brakes and turns off their car? It doesn't happen.

Good discussion about the turbo timer. However, for the time being its not on my list. I had one on my Evo 8 and notice that most Hwy driving usally is followed with 5-10mins of mild town driving before turning off the car.

My question (researching now) is what brand 550 injectors I want to go with.

RC Engineering or HKS. Either one should serve your purposes with no problem at all.

I'd go with Deathscwerks over RC any day! I've heard of way too many issues with RC injectors (including my own).

Deathscwerks or Denso.

I have been running the Denso's for 2 years without a problem, but I am going to be upgrading to the Deathscwerks 650's in the near future.

DW injectors for sure. I honestly have never heard of inconsistent flow with DW's. RC's are a different story. There have been quite a few stories of inconsistent flow rates with RC's. You can't go wrong at all with the DW's. I have 550's on my G and can flow enough fuel for 500whp. I'll never be running that much whp on my car but my point is that they work and flow very well.

Thumbs up Ordered Injectors.

Order the injectors today. Went with the DeatschWerks 550cc. As soon as Intense reopens I'm ordering the Walbro 220 fuel pump & Stillen oil cooler.

How's your idle with the 550's? I will never build my engine (well, unless it blows up), but considering I am almost maxing out the stock injectors with my JWT TT's, I am thinking about getting either 440's or 550's, but I don't want to lose the smooth idle of the stock injectors, and with 550's, I would worry about that.

I am upgrading to the 650's sometime after the begining of the year, if you want, you can have my Denso 440's. Idle has been perfect with them.

Well I just talked to Mike @ DW and was notify they no longer have 550cc injectors. So I went ahead and got the 600cc.

Dave, How would the 550 (600 for me now) effect idle? Figured you can tuned for that.

Well, yes, and no. At idle, the engine uses very little fuel. So, the larger the injector, the shorter the pulse it stays open for. However, there is alimit on how fast it will open and close. I don't think there will be a problem with 600's, and everyone has told me that they work fine. I know I have seen some engines with really big injectors have a really lumpy idle, but from what people tell me, 550's, or 600's aren't too big.

With the RC 750cc's and UTEC I have to give it a little gas on a cold start, but once it's started it idles just fine. I'll most likely be changing to DW 850cc injectors soon.

^ You have a complete built motor, right? I don't have plans for high boost or a built motor. So I think any larger would be a waste.
