Default What would you have to do to raise the boost?

Hi everyone,

I've got an 05 NonRev Z 40k on the od and about 10k miles ago I installed the Turbonetics kit (no cats). I'm getting around 9psi out of it and well needless to say I've got the itch for more. Say I wanted to raise the boost to 12 or 13 psi, what would be the basic mod's I would have to do to safely accomplish this? It has been a daily driver and will probably be a 2 or 3 days a week from this point on, keep in mind I must be able to run 93 octane? I know the obvious; pistons and a programmable ecu. I'm sure there are some on here that have done this and more, so I'm seeking your expertise. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, I installed the kit myself, Act clutch, innovate gauges (boost, A/F), Nismo cat back, so far but know when it's beyond my ability.

Please give me some details. i.e. arias 8.5 (must lower for more boost).....

I appreciate any and all input....
Thanks,
Shep

Built engine to be safe, otherwise LC pistons and beefier rods.

Buy a boost controller and you're good (should have a manual at least anyways, just turn it up).

Raising the boost above 10psi on the Turbonetics kit and you will start running into back pressure issues with the 2.5" downpipe. The power curve will start to take a poop. 10 psi is the sweet spot with the kit. About 410 whp.

i had the same question, im running a technosquare reflash,im running a little rich, i like it that way and im steady @ 8.3psi on the dyno... if i were to get a boost controller and set it to 10psi, would i run innto any AF issues or timing? would it be safe to run 10psi on my reflash?

You're running a reflash with FI? No standalone?

If you turn up the boost without a reflash or proper engine management it will run lean as hell.

the supplied reflash is good for stockish boost levels. any more boost will require larger injectors and a new tune (the reflash is tuned for the supplied 380cc injectors). id say for safeties sake, just run a utec. imo, the tn kit isnt anything special. the piping after the turbo is way to small.

Agreed 100%. If you have the itch for more power you might want to go with a good bottom end build and then switch to a different turbo kit. At least if you have a bottom that can handle a lot, you can turn up the boost as high as your itch desires.

use the search button..

bottom end(rods, pistons, head gasket, headstuds)
fuel return
larger injectors
new ems
fuel pump
clutch to hold the power

turbonetics kti usually tends to run into bottle necks. best of luck to you. theres a lot more info on these forums hence the SEARCH BUTTON

Put it at 10 PSI get a UTEC and tune it. Leave well enough alone and enjoy 400whp on a stock motor. Trust me..... I wish I had.

P.S. I still blew my motor to pieces with 10PSI.
