Default Need to replace clutch before going FI???

So I have a 2005 Z with 26k miles on it, and it's NA. I'm thinking about going FI with a turbonetics kit REAL soon. I just drove my buddies 03 Z with a turbonetics kit (TN flash) and he has a stock clutch. The FIRST thing I noticed was that his clutch was MUCH more firm than mine, and harder to push down... Mine doesn't feel like putty or anything, but my clutch is noticeably softer.... I've also noticed that my car has a random "clunk" noise coming from underneath the car. I've searched about the clunk and it seems to be the throw out bearing...

So my question is, how can you tell if the clutch is going??? I don't drive my car hard AT ALL! Its my daily driver... And I haven't had issues with the clutch slipping or anything, but I do pamper my cars very much.....I've been hearing the JWT clutch is a good way to go...

(And sometimes I notice that when I go over speedbumps and I'm feathering the clutch, the car seems to jutter a little bit when its engaging.....)

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

But do I NEED to do the flywheel also?!?! Trying to keep the cost down... I've read that getting a lighter flywheel isn't EXTREMELY necessary...

you cant use an after clutch with your oem flywheel hence why everyone upgrades both. and yes, if you dont want your turbo's power go to waste, you really need to upgrade your clutch.

If my memory serves me right, yes you can use the oem flywheel with an aftermarket clutch.

Don't most kits already come with the new Throw out bearing??

And also, what's a good clutch / flywheel kit that's inexpensive?

Yeah, I'm really curious about this... I'll be lookin into this...

By any chance, what is the average cost / labor time to install a clutch?

Wrong.

As for the original question; yes you are crazy if you dont upgrade the clutch while you're doing an FI install. The stock one will not last long with the increased torque.

depends on how much whp you are looking at too. i mean if you plan on always adding to the cars power then might as well go big once and save some money. in that case...carbonetic triple disc FTW!!

I don't plan on changing my clutch out, hopefully my clutch will hold till I have to rebuild the motor.

I have ZERO plans on doing any hard launches, if that wasn't the case then I'd get a new clutch asap.

I had a JWT clutch installed while doing the Greddy install on a stock motor. After all was said and done I started reading post about how the JWT couldnt hold more than 475-500 hp at most.. When I build the motor I guess I will have to replace the clutch again, so the joke is on me i'm afraid. LOL!

Well, I just ordered a Comp Clutch Stage 2 clutch... I'm gonna be having it installed on Saturday... Guess I should be safe now then have an ugly surprise later....Plus the turbonetics kits are on backorder, so I can do this in the meanwhile....
