Heh okay, I really didn't want to let you guys down so I went and got a little crazy.

Disconnected my oil cooler, and went and got my oil temps up to around 210. I've noticed my car smokes most heavily when the oil is hottest, and thus thinnest. However thin oil alone is not my issue, as I run 20W-50 Amsoil race oil....

Did a bunch of WOT 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear pulls in the middle of nowhere, all with me letting off the throttle while at WOT with no easing off - just straight lifting. Before the restrictor was installed, this almost certainly would have produced at least some smoke...

Zero smoke. None. I did not see so much as a puff of blue smoke today. I'd like to give it a few more days just so I can be 100% sure before I make a concrete determination, but I am fairly positive this problem has been layed to rest.

You are GOD.... turbonetics is going down now......

My parts will be here I guess like around the weekend... with the oil you think that I can use the same oil that you are using? (safe for a stock engine) I'm using 10-40 right now fully syntethic.....

Thanks again....

I run 20W-50 only because my engine is built with looser then stock bearing clearances. I think its a bit overkill on a stock engine and would only rob you of power, but I am no oil expert.

I do know a lot of the FI guys like 15w-50. But on a stock block, I think I would stick with 10w-40.

ya dont go with a weight like that on a stock block and especially if you live in NY. Some of those really cold mornnigs wont be too healthy with oil real thick.

I got a built block and im using 1040 around here just for the fact that its startin to get cold now. In the summer, i would probably bump it to 2050 as well.

Heres a pic for you guys to show placement.

The restrictor is above the brass fitting, which is an oil filter, and below the 90 degree elbow.

(btw, still no smoke! )

Thats a black zip tie, and the vertical black mark is some grease or dirt. But good looking out

I figured you probably knew. Congrats on figuring out the oil smoke issue. BB turbos are so temperamental at times.

So the smoking problemis FIX thanks to spoils.... today I'm driving home from work having fun and I hear like a duck sound coming from my engine when boosting.... I'm WTF...@#@^$# ... My first thoughts were a loose clamp or something like that cause only hapends when its WOT.... so I got home and start cheking all the clamps... hoping no to find a duck inside my engine bay..... to my surprise I found this:
one of the clamps the one that sits close to the pulley was gone and the sillicone coupler was cut... the pulley cut the clamp and the coupler.. does any one know what size is this piece piece... and how to push that away from the pulley to prevent to happening again...

(No duck)

thanks

The previous owner of my TN kit had the same issue with it - it even cut a small crease into that pipe, but not thru it. Scary either way. You just have to align the pipe right to make sure it clears the crank pulley. Adjust it where it bolts to the timing cover, and anywhere else need be. Mine has about 1/2" clearance from the crank pulley now.

PS: glad to hear your smoking issue is resolved

Installed the Restrictor and the smoke is 90% Gone!!!! I see just the slightest hint of it. Maybe I need a smaller restrictor.
