Believe me Tom, I already checked 47min from Marengo to SP on Google maps. If I can fit it in I will hijack the rental and swing by. I am meeting some family out there for the day to meet with my brothers accountant for his consulting business.

Too bad I fly in late Thursday and fly out Friday afternoon.

Baltimore to O'Hare and yes, I am aware that Marengo is a hick town, but cheap warehouse rent.

I lived in Naperville a while back and also stayed with my Dad for a summer at his apartment on the Gold Coast. I love Chi-Town . We used to come home from the city early in the AM on weekends after parting all night and someone was always willing to throw down on 88.

If you aren't flying into O'hare, change your flight to O'hare.........hehehehe
Proximity to SP is stupid close (literally oposite side of airfield)

You should check it out sometime, its an area of just bars upon bars, at least it used to be back in the day. They used to allow open containers within certain blocks so you could just walk from place to place with a drink in your hand. 4th of July is off the hook.

Picked up the car today from Hill's Garage, met a few forum members that stopped by to have work done - nice meeting everyone. Frank was nice enough to hook up the EDFC for me before I left the shop and the ride on the Tein Comfort Sports is great, firm but not harsh and it can get much firmer.

Funny story, I leave the shop and get on the beltway (695) and I'm cruising along at 80ish mph. Now don't forget that the wastegates are wide open (no springs = no boost) and the car is LOUD, I mean really LOUD (ricer loud). I can see people staring at me as I go by with a mixture of "wow that car is rice" and "for such a loud car you would think he would at least wash it once and a while".
So anyway, I 'm crusing along and I see a guy closing on me. This dude in a Mazdaspeed 3 is right on my ***, but we're in traffic, so there is nowhere I can go. After a few miles the traffic breaks and I roll on the throttle and the car is just SCREAMING LOUD. I get to about 100mph and the A/F Gauge starts blinking and I look over and it reads 7.3. I figure this is bad, the gauge never blinked before, so I slow down to 80 again and slide over a lane, just then the Mazda blows by me with the guy driving smiling from ear to ear. I just got my lunch packed by a freakin Mazda, a hatchback wagon looking thing no less.
Those guys must have a forum of their own and I'm sure he went home and started a thread about how he laid a beatdown on this 350Z with 3" pipes and an intercooler showing. Nothing like a little humility for the ride home.
I had my old setup for 6 months and never had people wanting to race, but I swear there were 5-6 people looking to throwdown just on the ride home from Baltimore. I figure its one of two reasons. One, the exhaust is so loud they figure I want to race for sure ot two, the exhaust is so loud they want to be in front of me so they don't have to hear it. Either way, after getting clocked by the Mazda, I just kept to my speed and made it home.

Had a freakout moment today. You know your motor isn't stock when your oil pressure gauge at idle looks like this:

My Build: The Good, The Bad & The Progress-dsc04669.jpg

The old motor used to hang right at about 1/4 gauge at idle.... big difference. I thought for a second there was no oil pressure, but Frank said it will be around 8psi at idle.

I got the car home and its was just nice enough to wash it outside. I got it all cleaned up and took a run up the street to get the water out of the wheels and found out that I had coated the car with salp all over again. I then washed it a second time . All cleaned up and showing off the new lowered stance:

Looks good. What exhaust are you running? What cams? I know its all in here somewhere but yesterday i spent 1/2hr looking to see what cams it looked like Tomei? You should updte the first page to show all current parts and things you change/added. So its easier to find. That sucks getting the beat down by a Mazda thats why its best to have no springs if the boost was just turned down with a Boost controller it would be too tempting to give it 6-7psi to teach him a lesson

Exhaust - APS 3" True Duals
Cams - Mystery cams, I was told 254's, they are stamped 268 and have no brand name markings, they sound aggressive

I know the car was quieter with the springs in, but we didn't road test it that day, so I don't know how much quieter it will get. If its too loud I will just sell the APS and get a quieter, although more restrictive exhaust.

Wow... Those look SICK!!! I'm not familiar with this BBK. Gotta link to a thread or other site with more info on these brakes? How much $$$?

Sorry for the OT Cass. Glad to see that your Z is running and back on the road, albeit without boost for now. at your encounter with the Mazda Speed3!
