On a more serious note, I have never seen what the under side of a G looks like. If there is an opening on the under side like on the Z, ( where the turbo is) then I am sure the hot pipes would work just fine.

I am not sure about the cold pipes, the front, with all the splash guards could be a bit different on the G. But again, I am sure I could come up with something.

I will only look at this option (making kits) if there is enough interest. It would be a large investment on my part, but I have done something like this before.
I would actually love to do this. It would be a lot of fun. I like wrenching my own cars, but I don't have your fab skills. I can barely weld and would never let myself weld my own set up.

I am sure a Garrett GT35R would fit in there just fine, I would love to get the turbo from APS. The turbine housing they have (custom) on that turbo is really small and would fit under there just perfect. I have send APS a couple of emails but they never reply . I don't know how big the turbine is (diameter) on a GT35R but I don't think it would be bigger than this Garrett 60-1. Can't really go much bigger.

Initially I wanted to replicate the APS ST kit but this turbo's turbine is just too big, and wouldn't fit in the APS location.

The STS 350Z and G35 kit are pretty much the same except the G35 is just a little longer.

Here are a couple of pix of my G35..

This kit look promising...

Thank you AthenG. It looks like it's all the same, turbo goes in the yellow circle.

Man, that is a ton of IC piping there. Looks like it's all 2" or maybe 2 1/4", just comparing it to the exhaust past the Y pipe, because I know that it is 2 5/8". Hard to say, exhaust being brown and IC piping being silver, it can mess with your judgment.

How much closer are you to a tune as of today?

Hmmm, good question. If I had all the parts here I would be able to tune on Saturday. Esentially, all I have left is the V-band weld under the car and install the T fitting for turbo oil supply. All the oil lines have been installed, all the piping is done, so just the stuff in the cabin.

Oh, the injectors have to be done as well, but that's not a big deal at all.

After a small (stupid mistake by me) intake problem the car runs just fine. Everything is just right. The car (to my suprise) sounds just like stock. The oil pump is doing it's job and quietly, I know many complain about scavenge pump noise. I may put an inline resistor to slow the pump down a bit, maybe down to 9V vs 14.4V the alternator puts out. This will reduce the speed and prolong life of the pump. It was ment to pump oil on a TT corvette so I should be just fine.

I have a small leak on the driver side header but other than that I am really happy with everything. I will have to get the 1/2" drive/socket and tighten up the header bolts and then I am ready to move up to the Haltech, gauges and injectors.

My scavenge pump is silent from inside or outside the car. I know larry has it controlled by the pro-efi on mine (not sure how the settings are though). You will get an inherit puff of white smoke when you let off after a long pull.

Yes it is calling, just sitting there on my "electronics" work bench, taunting me every time I walk by:

<a href="http://s137.photobucket.com/albums/q204/1997KLDE/?action=view&current=turbo2020.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q204/1997KLDE/turbo2020.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I got some wire from work today and I will run my O2 controller wiring through the firewall this week. The controller will stay under the hood, this way I only have to pull one multy wire cable through. Then it's just a matter of getting the boost gauge and wideband gauge installed.

Ofcourse there is stilll the fuel pump and injectors. I thoght it would be a good idea to brake this down in to a two part install. Now that I know everything works well with all the work I have done so far, I can move on. If I had done everything at once, and had a problem, where do I start troubleshooting. If you kow what I mean. I also ordered some non foulers today from rockauto.com, just couldn't find any locally. They should be here this week as well.

I have been doing a bunch of research on this catch can/crankcase venting stuff. Seems like there are so many options. I was thinking about getting a catch can, connecting it to the two valve covers, and then runnig a line from the turbo intake side to the catch can. This way the crankcase would always be in vacuum. Don't really see a problems with that, any objections?

Not really sure, I am not in a huge rush as we still have a crap load of snow here, and I bet there is more comming. As soon as it does happen, I will have a vid., and dyno numbers. Local member Travis (JuJube) was kind enough and offered to help me out with the initial Haltech setup and tuning, so whenever he has tim I guess. Like I said I am in no big hurry, mainly do to winter.

It's just on stands, there is no load when reved. So nothing special, sounds just like a tock Z, and I like that.

Where in the engine bay are you going to mount the Haltech?

Don't think the Haltech is going under the hood, only the O2 controller.

Did you ever decide on a gauge location?
