Default PCV Valve Catch Can Question.......

I am currently running vortech 11psi... I was reading a thread that jetpilot posted a blog about pcv valves and pax. Now i am completely confused....

My shop installed a catch can going to the driver side intake valve. ( the one that originally attached to the intake on the stock set up ) and then the other side of the catch can vented out to open air ? I that the correct set up ?

Or would i be better off running the catch can on the passenger side plenum like it is described in the instructions for the catch can write ups. ? and on the driver side just running a little breather filter ?

Sorry for the question but i want to make sure this is installed correctly. Just seemed wierd the hose running into open air.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

I never get anything on the driver side but I do get a lot of excessive oil from the passenger PCV.

This is just 1 month

+1 on way too much oil = serious problems. My understanding is that it should be appx a teaspoon or less that it will catch, just from vapor, blowby is another issue. Sorry OP - not sure on the setup yet as mine goes on in a few wekks.

Ya this is before the 2nd rebuild.

Wow I didn't even know this was an issue until u guys brought it up. It may be caused by having all my oil squirters broken off

If you apply too much vacuum to the crankcase with no source for fresh air to enter, then you will suck the oil out of the crankcase. Allow a way for air to enter the system (breather) and I think you will find that the oil evacuation reduces.

What is the cause of too much vaccum to the crankcase? I was having issues with my timing cover leaking oil and I was told it may be due to too much crankcase pressure?
