Glad to see you are keeping the Z. You are helping pave the road for those of us that want to make a reliable road course turbo Z. I will be attentively awaiting your results.

I guess the addiction to road racing has bitten you hard!
Congrats on your decision to rebuild. Glad you chose to stay in the game.

Default The Rebuild

Good luck with the rebuild. Since you track your Z; are you going to add an oil accumulator to ensure you have proper oiling while pulling G's around Sebring?

great news. It's nice "people" are finally catching on that water cooled turbo's are much better for racing lol

Larry, you are officially precluded from posting up a thread...threatening to sell your car, or changing your mind. Your plan has more twists and turns than a good rollercoaster.

Glad you are sticking with it.

Oh, and I can't stress this enough....for a track duty car, you need a Haltech or FCON, and a tune specifically calibrated for track use.

Listen to Sharif on this one, what could be referred to as a "drag race" tune will have a fair bit more timing advance than a "road coarse" tune. I highly advise you make for dam sure that whom ever tunes your car know the difference. It would be nice if they road coarse a vq as well to instill confidence in there work.

I don't have money or magic fairy dust to make a Haltech magically appear. UTEC FTW!

sorry I didnt mean the haltech was a must, just the tuners experience with road coarse cars.

one of the short comings of the UTEC is its lack of good control to vary the tune as air and coolant temps change. the UTEC does offer the ability to adjust fuel and timing at various air temperature brackets. it works, but the it is a non-linear adjustment that covers an 18 degree F range. with some time, I am sure larry can get his UTEC tweaked properly.

this is great news larry
i think jsut as you said "was just murdering the Greddy's turbo's at the track. They just weren't meant for that level of abuse. " the same applies for the ems, and the UTEC never really cut it to the goals you were after (track car) since you need a higher level of EMS control. I hope you are able to go with standalone before your build is ready

Damn these breaking Z's, we just cant say no to these B1tches...

After having owned a UTEC and Haltech and experienced the difference in how the car drives, I think you would be foolish not to upgrade the EMS with your new plans. But regardless of what you decide best of luck to you...AGAIN
