Default Project SAA3! Game On!!!

I've decided to go ahead and rebuild Project SAA2 with the intention to keep the car. Project SAA3 is born! Big Big changes to come.

New Motor:
1. CP pistons .020 over 8.5:1 compression ratio.
2. New oil consumption block
3. Old Crank
4. VQ35HR head gasket with JWT block cooling mod
5. Old L-19 head studs
6. Evans NPG coolant
7. Calico molly coated main/rod bearings

New GTM VQ35DE Twin Turbo Stage II Tuner Kit
Twin Garrett GT28RS .86 A/R dual ball bearing water cooled turbo's
TIAL 50mm BOV
Twin 38mm TIAL WG's
SwainTech coated manifolds/turbine housings/downpipes

New Fuel System
Custom external 2 Liter fuel surge tank
SX external fuel pump
Inline fuel filter

I chose the GTM turbo kit because it looks fantastic with Garrett BB turbo's, TIAL BOV, 3" downpipes with options for open dump or recirc. These Garrett's should live up to anything I can throw at them on the track. I've seen these on some Porsche 911's at the track and they report no issues. I was just murdering the Greddy's turbo's at the track. They just weren't meant for that level of abuse. The price of the GTM tuner kit @ $6175 makes this a bargain compared to the Greddy.

Full pics of the build to come. Next Track day @ Sebring is April 18th! I'll post everything up in this thread as Quadcam and I progress with the build.

I'm commming back... better, stronger, faster!

Glad to see you decided to stick with it and try again.

What rods are being used in the new build? And are you still gonna use the Utec, or are you changing to a different EMS (maybe a stand alone)?

Thanks gentlemen. I am going to stick with my Eagle H-beam rods out of the other block as long as they pass inspection of course.

Larry,

go with dual BOVs........one on each of the "hot" pipes (pre-intercooler or welded to the intercooler endtanks).

Very nicely selected components for the rebuild.

EDIT: I think I found the tech specs for the turbos, but not sure with just a GT28 designation. These I think are a perfect selection for a road course. 500-550 whp on pump gas, maybe a bit more with GTM's efficient piping and IC, depending on the dyno... Very similar to the original APS turbos and the 700bb from JWT. Nice.

Glad to see you stayin in the game with us Larry....best of luck on the build.

It'll be great to hear a real comparison (if there can even be one) between the two setups.

Thanks guys! I wish, I wish, I wish I had enough money right now for a Haltech. I had contacted JT right before the motor failed to install and tune a Haltech for me. The next day I did a leakdown to find the bad news. Unfortunately the money for the Haltech is now going into these upgrades. The piggy bank is empty!

I could buy a Haltech for cost if someone were so generous to make that offer to me with Quadcam doing free tuning!

This car has litterally bled me dry for a while to come.

Sam from GTM, Quadcam, and Larry my machinist from South Florida Crank and Machine are really the reason I have decided to keep going. Sam has been very helpful. He gave me a call and we talked and he convinced me we could do this right. Finding a competant local engine builder also is saving me quite alot of money on engine shipping costs. Quadcam offering his facilities and helping me with labor has been huge. I am really suprised with the offers of help I have received and this is making SAA3 barely possible. I'm really out of money now.

Nice!!! I like the build.

Sorry I missed you yesterday. I had a client that needed something done in a hurry and I didn't get out of the office until about 6:15.
