If your S.O. gives you crap you need to re-evaluate your relationship.
I kinda agree, but I also think that if you're ignoring other financial responsibilities (which I have no doubt some FI'ers are guilty of) so that you can spend money on a car, then you need to revaluate yourself.

What is important, a car that will deprecate in value or a partner in life? Usually a wife/GF will not give a shoot about our hobbies if we do have extra money to spend.. Most of the argument is that we want something that we cant afford. If you have loads of money and your wife still gives you problem then there is something wrong. If you have kids, a mortgage payment, car payments, credit car bill..etc and you barely have enough money for savings then I believe your partner have every right to at least disapprove if you want to spend that extra money you have on your car.

Many people are in deep chit right now because they didn't have any savings and didnt prepare themselves for the worst. Lots of people that lost their job are now filing for foreclosure because they didn't have enough saving to stay afloat.... just my .02
