Default New built engine starts. but wont stay on!!

car starts.. but wont stay on. no throttle response.. starts just fine, makes effort to stay on but it wont, runs for 3 seconds, then revs up and down a bit and shuts off.. oil pressure is good, no leaks, sounds healthy. but just wont stay on.. i give it throttle but no response, just goes up and down and finally shuts off after 5-8 seconds

any suggestions?

i have the utec plugged up with a base map/parameters.. map sensor is hooked up to the plenum.

FIXED: MAF was facing the wrong way.

Double check throttle body connector? I'm sure you did, but the same thing happened to my friends car when we put it back together and that's what it was.

+1, happened to me also, worked fine and then like a week later took it all apart, forgot the throttle body connector which I fixed and then did the throttle body relearn and wala it worked.

Go over everything and make sure every single wire/plug is connected.

sux that the 350z tb's arent cable driven =] but it def sounds like your TB isn't hooked up right. Where is the IACV (idle air control valve) on the Z anyway? Maybe want to check that as well if its plugged in...if there is any..

also..even though i never seen the software for utec, but this came in mind....

i have a emanage ultimate that i installed on my maxima 4yrs ago, drove it around the 1st month with no problem and later the car cuts off when i tried starting it up. later it wouldn't start at all. got the car towed back after HIN NY back in 2005, checked all the connections....found out that i never set the throttle settings on my laptop....maybe you want to check that if there is any such settings for utec...

Mass air flow might be installed with the flow going the wrong way. Or you dont have the flywheel on right and the crank sensor is reading wrong.

The TB is the idle control. It opens and closes to adjust the idle speed. If the TB is plugged in it is most likely something else unless you TB took a crap. We unplug the TB's all the time and dont have to do the relearn procedure.

You issue sounded familiar and this came to me.I am assuming you replaced your injectors recently. What injectors are you running? Are they high or low imdeance? We had a problem like this and it was because we had low impedance(order high got shipped low) injectors in there.

The car wil run with the crank sensor unplugged but it takes awhile to actually start it.And once it does start you can rev it.

Check the little ground wire that comes out of the engine harness right on top of the motor in the front. It's has a circular connector and bolts to the top front of the timing cover.

well.. flywheel is fine. but i think my problem is the MAF... the guy who had this kit before had an FCON. which doesnt used the stock MAF.. i had to cut the pipe and add the stock MAF. it might be facing the wrong way!!! i'll check tomorrow. thanks guys!!

also i have no exhaust/test pipes!!! i was gonna drive the car with stock exhaust to exhaust depot and have them fabricate me one. so this thing is loud!!!
