Procharger help?
So this is for a friend, and on top of that he drives a g35. I've spent enough time around here to know that I can get more extensive help here, so please don't tell me to hop forums. Ya'll just know more.
This G has gone through some troubles recently. Long story short, things are looking on the up and up. An oil change in the supercharger unit, and things should be peachy. But where to go from here, I want help with.
The kit from what I can tell is stock as a rock. 6-7 PSI, and no exhaust mods other than running dumped from the cats. I read about some guys going for 12PSI pulleys and the such, but is that safe on the stock block, and what should be paired with that (intake and header back).
Tuning is another issue. This is a daily that can't disappear for 2 weeks on a voyage. The greater Chicagoland area (100 miles?) is where we'd like to stay for tuners. Are there any good choices, and if so, what computer systems are they fluent in that will get the most out this new setup?
Thanks for any help everyone, and please excuse the ignorance. VQ's are very sexy and proving to be impressive, but are just not something I know.

wow....ok as for intake...procharger has a k&n filter on it. did u mean intake as in manifold spacer? u can have grd or sp tune it. i wouldnt go over 10psi and what fuel management are u running? injectors?
No K&N here. Just a grill/screen type deal as I understand. Problem.
Fuel management as in a piggyback or what? Let me know what I should look for in the car/under the hood and where and I can give you a better idea of what is here and what is not.
You have run the 12 pound setup, so what makes you say shoot for 10?
Don't know anything about the injectors either. The car was bought from a dealership as it sits. I really wish there was more money involved so it could get looked at by a shop, or someone locally who can tell us what's going on with it. How big of injectors would be needed for this higher PSI?
Thank you for the advice. That search has been done, and I know realize that more boost snaps these belts. AAM bracket seems to be answer there?
Looks about right. Place is even closer than GRD!
Thanks for the welcome. These are his concerns. I am putting them online to get some knowledgeable answers.
Does anyone know the diameter of the 9 or 12 pound pulley setups? Procharger doesn't stock anything for the VQ anymore but I'm guessing they still make the size in other applications.
Does the build list near the bottom of here give a good outline of supporting mods, or should some things be changed? Looks about universal for what I found in my searching here (pump, injectors, bracket, pulley, computer and a tune).

AAM Brace is a must to run more boost, even then I wouldnt go over 12psi. You will need larger injectors (I'm using 650cc) No fuel return is needed for your power goals on the stock block. Also get the Walbro fuel pump, The Procharger come with a crappy inline pump.
Check into a UTEC for the ECU. You can find them here in the Classified section.
Hope this helps

I like the idea of 650's at 9psi. Seems like 440's are the minimum, but headroom never hurts. Lower %'s seem to work out better. Don't think there is a intank pump, but I found out where this car was put together and will be calling sometime soon to get a receipt from them about what all went in the build.
Until then, does anyone have knowledge on what kind of fuel pressure the car should be seeing at various stages? Not oil, but fuel...
UTEC was not my first idea, but certainly a better one than I had expected. Another friend said go for Osiris, but I think going with something familiar to whatever shop this ends up going to (GRD or SP) is more important.
And yes, that was very helpful, thank you!

AAM brace has been sourced. Does $330 sound about right? Is there any problem with buying one used if one can even be found? The 12 pound setup seems to be pushing it, as you and the other guy said steer clear. Is it just too much for the stock bottom end, or something else?

call Procharger at (913) 338-3086 They can send you any Pulley combo you want for your setup. 10-11-12 or whatever you like. 9psi should net you about 400whp, If this is the stock block, I wouldnt go much past that.

+1 snapped blower belts like no other when i ran 12psi....not worth it imo...procharger charges 100 a pulley and u only have to change one out for more boost....
sp is sound performance ...call them and see what they suggest for tuning...the utec sometimes has problems with bigger injectors...i had 650's also with my setup and aam fuel return also with a walbro 255.

In my opinion, Stronger belts really wont help much. The fix is to brace the Supercharger bracket back to the Engine since they move together. I am working on a brace for mine now, I'll let you know how it works.
The problem with going over 12psi is that the procharger will snap the belt even with the AAM brace. $330 sounds cheap to me, I think they are about $400 or so new. I suggested UTEC because it is a cheaper alternative and can be found used on this site pretty cheap. Sorry I cant help with the fuel pressure numbers.

AAM - hopes of success.
I didn't read all the posts so I'm sorry If you repeat anything. Also I'm not sure of how the G's makeup or the G's Procharger kit differs from the Z kit.
I have the ProCharger on my Z. I got it used (as I'm assuming your buddy may have?) and it had a screen hose clamped to the intake. Do youself a favor and call procharger order the proper intake. Shown here:

I'm not sure how ya changed the oil, but purchase a "Turkey Baster" from ATI to make that easier.
As far as tuning I shitcanned the Aeromotive DFMU but used ProCharger's fuel pump. I got an SSbox to address timing and fuel and it ran the pump just fine. I'm running the 7lb pulley setup and will put the 9lb setup on this year I think.
This stuff about belts snapping at 12psi (and over?) is the first I've heard of it. Its discouraging to me, because I wanted to run ATI's 16psi setup after my build...
sadface.
I have no advice about shops because I'm in Montana... There's 1 tuner in 350miles... I get no choice. I'm just lucky he's good.
Any other questions about the kit feel free to PM me.
