Dyno results show the stock vortech runs rich, and has hidden power, available with a tune.

I will go to a 3.12 pulley, with 600 CC injectors and a new fuel pump, ditchign the stock vortech stuff, prior to my final tune.

I thought the whole point of the complete Vortech kit was that you were pretty "safe" and didn't have to upgrade anything.
it is just that, safe. They flood the engine with fuel so you don't have to worry about it being lean. It's actually a pretty horrible tune. Each car varies quite a bit on motor, fuel system, etc so you never know if the tune will be ok. That's why you can't just make one tune and have everyone use it. 2 cars with the exact same setup could turn out to be completely different on the dyno.

Well, Clutch is in... Test pies and new Y-Pipe is in...
I mounted the Gauges in the tripple pod A-Pillar I got from Glow-Shift (Top notch piece btw).

Still need to hook the gauges up... But they look nice at this point

My 3.12 pulley showed up too... Now I just need the rest of the kit...

If it runs so rich already, then why the fuel injector/pump upgrade? I think others have upgraded the pulley safely without the fuel system. I'm sure they had good tunes though

because you change the boost with a new pulley. The tuning cells will be completely different so there is no way of knowing if those cells are tuned rich or not. Then there is the fact that hte car will spin up to a couple more pounds of boost that it has never been to so there is no way of knowing that it's rich up there either.

I get having to tune once pulley is changed, but not sure he needs the injector/fuel pump upgrade as the stock should be enough w the 3.12 pulley. This is per some of the guys on this forum who've tried it.
I'm about to get similar setup and will let you know more once I set things up

WOW... The test pipes and Light flywheel must of freed up 20 horses...

Car rev's much faster... And is now quite loud with the test pipes.
You can feel the rumble in your chest when going WOT...

every car is different. a common misconception i've seen with people on this board is assuming that just because 1 car out of thousands got it to work that it will work for every car.

I don't know many on here with a completely stock fuel setup and a 3.12 pulley running properly. All i've heard of is upgrading to a walbro. I know mine had to have a walbro to keep up with a 3.12 pulley.

so i'm guessing the fuel return lines would be more than enough? anyways, I don't want to jack this thread. OP, keep ups posted on your build, interested to hear what you do with it.

Vortech kit showed up today!!! WHOOHOO!!!

I'm going to start the install tomorrow afternoon...
I plan to install the whole kit, 3.33 pulley, SS box etc and run this for about 2 weeks...

I figure if it has issues from the manufacturer, they should show up in two weeks of daily driving...

I go in to get my UpRev Osiris tune on January 11th...
So i need to swap to my 3.12 pulley, 600 DW Injectors, and fuel pump before this date...
I also need to remove the FMU and SS box supplied by vortech...

Am I safe to drive to the tuners (about 5 miles) after I change the pulley, remove the vortech helper-pump, and remove the SS Box??? And Will it start and run with the 600 cc injectors, or will it just run like poop till it is tuned...

not entirely true. theres plenty of dd f/i z's around that dont experience any trouble. if your planning on building the motor, making high hp, then yea id agree with island and say get another car for a daily. but a safe tune should yield a healthy motor

most importanly, ditch the split second box, thats old technology. get something along the lines of utec, osiris etc, and get it tuned professionally and correctly asap.

you should be safe to drive with the pulley, just dont go into too much boost. as for the injectors, to play it safe, run the supplied setup if the ss box is currently installed, or stock if its removed. while it might be unlikely, an hour long drive on injectors 200cc larger than supplied may run you the risk of washing out a cylinder. just a precautiion i'd take.

Why you did not bough a tuner kit in the first place?

dude, just wait til january 11th to get the osiris tune. Don't install the SS box. You have to cut your wiring harness. It's not worth cutting your harness for a few days of driving. trust me.

Well, the Vortech is installed....
After troubleshooting my starting problems to a plug we forgot to reconnect it fired right up.

Had to re-tighten the belt as it had a little slippage, but that was easy.

Everyone was right.. the 3.33 pulley isnt that impressive till about 5600 RPM's.

I got my new exhaust installed over the weekend as well... I went with the Invidia Gemini Dual Exhaust, with my Ichiba Resonated Test pipes.. They sound amazing!!! It has NO drone and i can now hear myself talk/think when doing 75 on the freeway.. Thanks god...

I JUST ordered a new PMAS MAF from R/T to be put on for my Osiris tune on Tuesday the 11th at intec Racing in Kent, WA. I'll do my Plugs, 3.12 pulley, walbro pump along with the PMAS MAF sensor Monday after noon, and hopefully limp into the tuning place 5 miles away...

I got a "Sony Bloggie" to take some HD pictures / video of the tune so...

Over all i'm happy so far with the Vortech kit, just not all that impressed with the 3.33 pulley... Like others have said... It does too little too late. I will stick with my plan of the 3.12 pulley for now... I'm sure later it will change.. but i really want to built a short block with forged pisons and rods first...
