So I spoke to John @ Z1 this morning and he is installing the Akebono brake upgrade complete with stainless lines and 40th Anniversary Red calipers. While their at it they are going to install Tein H Tech springs to provide a modest drop. So in the last week and in addition to the twin turbos I have also added:

1. Quaiffe
2. Akebono Brakes
3. Tein H Tech to lower
4. Enkei PF01 Wheels
5. Nitto Tires
6. what else is there?

So here is the complete list:
  1. GTM Stage 2 TT Kit for HR
  2. GTM 3" Downpipes and Recirculation (Externally Waste Gated)
  3. GTM 3" Exhaust
  4. OSIRIS Uprev ECU programming
  5. Deatchworks 600cc Fuel Injectors
  6. Walbro 255 l/h Fuel Pump
  7. OS Giken Twin Disc Clutch
  8. Heavy Duty CSC with Stainless Clutch Line
  9. Complete Defi Gauge Setup (boost, oil press, water temp, wideband a/f)
  10. Blitz Boost Controller
  11. KP Technologies Two-step & No Lift Shift
  12. Quaiffe LSD
  13. 40th Anniversary Red Akebono BBK, Stainless lines, cross drilled/slotted rotors
  14. Enkei PF01 18x9.5 +15 on all four corners
  15. Tein H Tech Lowering Springs
  16. Nitto NT555 285-40-18 Tires

Any other suggestions while I'm at it? I just want to thank John, Will, Russel, and the whole crew at Z1 Motorsports in Carollton, GA for convincing me to spend all this money. I can't even fathom what this transformation is going to feel like when I drive it off from the shop.

If this doesn't get you pumped up, you don't have a pulse.

Thanks.
Jay

I think it will be tuned tomorrow. I will let John post the numbers and the chart when its done. I'm not trying to set any records or anything. Just want a solid 10-11 PSI tune. Should be a lot of Fun!

John received the base tune from GTM last night so he did not get to tune it yesterday. Tuning will commence today after lunch. Here is a sneak peek at the Akebono brakes...

Just a quick update on the car. We are working through a small boost issue where the car will not boost more than 7psi. However, the car put down 433whp @ 7psi. I think we are going to take it to a max boost of 10-11 psi so we should be in the 500+ range when its done.

If anyone has the GTM kit, external gates and EBC, please hit me up. I need to verify how your boost/vacuum lines are routed.

My understanding is boost input from charge pipe (pre-throttlebody) >> bottom wastegate ports + input on boost solenoid, output from solenoid to top of the wastegates, and reference boost/vacuum from manifold to back of controller unit. Let me know if this sounds right.

Some more eye candy...parts wheels/tires came in...

i'm sure Z1 knows how to hook up a boost controller. If not, do you really trust them to work on your car?

I knew someone would say that. It's hooked up right, just like the diagram. This is the first blitz dual sbc spec s they have installed with External Gate setup because its what I brought them. We think the solenoid is either malfunctioning or isn't playing with the twin setup. Unfortunately this is the first statement in the manual:

*The DSBC Spec S is not recommended for high boosting cars or cars with twin turbo or sequential turbo set ups.

i probably would have refrained from purchasing it if said this in the details.

The solenoid is always the same so that wouldn't be the issue. The issue would probably be with the setup of the duty cycle on the controller itself i would assume.

i'm sure it will get worked out. maybe it needs a second solenoid

Ya I was posting tonque in cheek I wouldnt think plumbing would be any problem. is that BC using a standard MAC solenoid? If so, I'd doubt you'd need 2.

I assume the gates are set at 7psi?

Ya I was posting tonque in cheek I wouldnt think plumbing would be any problem. is that BC using a standard MAC solenoid? (edit--- I guess not ) so ya thats proilly why they sell the R version with 2 solenoids.

But you'd figure those solenoids could cycle enough air for more than 7psi.

I assume the gates are set at 7psi?

According to the Blitz US rep, the solenoid is different and the controller is the same. The only thing else he suggested was to bring pressure from both cold pipes into a "T" then place that on the bottom of the solenoid to the input.

With manual boost controller the car will boost and with wastegate side port disconnected it boosts past 7psi. You have to let off to keep from overboosting. the WG spring is actually a 5.80lb spring so its only allowing an additional 1psi of boost through.

Great news! John and the Z1 gang solved the boost mystery. Thanks to these guys for their persistence! The boost line going to the back of the controller was kinked in the dash so it was never regulating the valve properly. These guys are awesome.

Stand by for numbers in the near future.
