Default VQ35HR Maf limit

I ended up going with the uprev tuner for my twin turbo set up. Anyhow, I would let some suggestion on what I should do with my MAF sensor.

I am running stock VQ35HR, Twin GT2860RS @5-7psi. 550cc injectors. I am just wondering do I need to upgrade my MAF at 350-400whp? I've seen some people with that power without getting the GT MAF. I just want to confirm.

Also the placement of the MAF. Do I need to put it at the cold pipe or the intake? There is no twin turbo HR locally so I just want some advice. Thanks guys!

You do not NEED to upgrade them, its the single maf DE setups that top out around 400. I've heard that the uprev mafs have better resolution than oem tho so it would be a smoother tune.

As for placement look at some pictures of GTM TT installs. You want them after the intercooler but before the throttle body.

HR tops out at 700whp or more because there's 2 MAF's each sharing half the flow. No need to upgrade MAF on any stock block setup.

I made 670 whp 699 tq on the stock mafs and they didn't show any signs of being near the voltage max so you will be fine.

thanks for the input.

One for question,my cold pipe is 2.5" instead of the regular 3". I just want to make sure it's ok to space out the MAF.

as long as you are tuning for the difference in tube diameter and the MAF wire in the airflow, it doesnt matter

The smaller diameter will increase the flow rate and raise the voltage of the maf won't it? Meaning it may max out a little sooner? I don't think in your case it would make a difference though

Good to know because the MAF is actually longer than 2.5" so i will have to spacer it out quite a bit.

^thats how most CAI companies do it, expand/reduce the size of the pipe around the MAF to match stock diameter so that the scaling doesnt change.

you can just use stepped silicone couplers.
