VQ35DE 5AT G35 Build (By Dynosty)
Hi all,
I have not been around for some time as my G has been garaged for a little while. The motor finally let loose after about 85K (on the vortech) on the stock internals so I am getting a build done by Dynosty. After reading many horror threads about builds and how wrong they can go I wanted to find a reliable place to handle this for me so that is why I selected Dynosty to do the job. They have a great rep, they answer the phones and do not mind answering questions that I feel I have even asked before.
I have a Vortech SC and was putting down 366 WHP / 315TQ (SS box tuned) with the 3.12 pulley. After this build I will be upgrading to the 2.87 pulley as the motor will be able to easily handle that. I am not looking for 'big power' hence the Vortech and no longer drive like a teenager so if I am right around 400 after this build I will be plenty happy with that and she should last a good long time since I will be no where near stressing the limits of this motor.
I will be trashing the SS Box in favor of a Osiris Uprev tune as well...
Here is my build list:
-Dynosty Stage 1 Short Block, includes CP Pistons, ARP Main Studs, ACL
bearings, Align Hone, Magnaflux and Micropolish Crank, Balance and Blueprint, Bore
and Hone with Torque Plate, Deck, Wash and Pro Assembly
-CP Pistons 9.5:1 Custom CR
-Manley Turbo Tuff Rods Upgrade
-Head Refresh Package, includes Valve Job, Mill, Adjust Valves, Clean and Pressure
Check. Includes new OEM valve seals.
-ARP L19 Head Studs
-Dynosty Pro Seal VQ35 Stopper Head Gasket Kit, 96mm
-Complete Engine Assembly (includes cleaning core components, assembly of timing
systems, oil pans)
-Nissan Oil Pump, 350Z Revup
-Dynosty Custom VQ Engine Build Gasket Kit, using Nissan parts, complete w/ new rear
main seal, intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, etc
-VQ35 Billet Main Girdle, with adaption for stock windage tray
-Nissan 350Z Rear Coolant Bypass Kit
-Nissan VQ35DE ATI Super Damper Balancer
-NGK Iridium Spark Plug, 1 step colder
-Injector Dynamics 725cc injectors
-ID 1000 Plug and Play Connectors for VQ35
-Tomei VQ35DE Wraped Headers
-Kelford Cams 266/260 Duration, 10.20mm/9.70mm Lift
-BC Single Spring & Ti Retainer Kit
-Cosworth VQ35 Twin Plenum Intake Manifold
-Powdercoat front covers
-Powdercoat cosworth intake manifold
-Paint block includes prep and supply
-Transgo VB upgrade
-Total IPT Trans Upgrade / Rebuild
-Total HKS Exhaust Rework w/ X Pipe
Yet to be added to the buildsheet are the oil and tranny coolers but will be getting those as well...
Will also do a TransGo kit and TQ converter.
Now all I have to do is find a good shop here in the Phx area to do the install without headaches... That has been a challenge thus far to the point I am considering putting the G on a trailer and sending her to Dynosty to have them take care of it start to finish... However that is very expensive and my budget it stretching as it is. I have a couple more places to call and go check out locally here and I hope to find a place I am comfortable with touching my 'baby' ...
Here is her picture for those that do not remember her...

Transport may be less expensive than shipping parts all said and done (I recommend Brandie at Agape if you´re considering it). For the time being Hal and Eddie still do most of the work at Dynosty - and you will find it difficult to get that quality and level of experience elsewhere.

I have not finalized my decision on it as of yet. I need to do more research and ask questions of those who have done it. Nothing like getting advice from those with exp.

Thanks for the mention of Agape... I will look into them, much appreciated.

Sweet build, would recommend throwing in a tranny cooler for longevity too!
On a side note, looking at random shipping quotes between AZ/KY (full, modified car), around $700ish one way. If you have the budget to ship it out and back I would (in your position) rather trust a shop you've dealt with before that has a strong reputation vs. a local shop that might not do things right the first time. Better pay once than twice to get it done right!

^^ Absolutely on the tranny cooler... May go with a oil cooler as well, thanks for the reminder!
$700 x 2 is actually not too bad for peace of mind... I will look more into that, thanks!

I used uShip.com to checkout the quote - They have a bunch of shippers with reviews so could be a pricing or reference point.
And not only for a piece of mind, but also for assurance that it'll get done right the first time so you won't have to pay anymore in the future in the event of any issues. Good luck with your build!

^^ Exactly... Hal over there seems to know his stuff and rcdash has used them and has had good things to say about their work. Also any issues and I feel confident that they would back up their work whereas I could see the potential for finger pointing with 2 different shops having their hands in it, thanks!

Thanks guys and after giving it more thought today I am going to give Hal a call tomorrow and see how booked up they are with cars in their shop and see about having it shipped out there. I figure with having to ship the engine out and then the core back to them I am half way to just shipping the entire car out and back... I even started to take the trunk audio / video system out this afternoon in preperation. This trunk set up weighs a friggn TON and I am now done with the show scene I believe so it was time for it to come out anyways and free up weight for better preformance / gas mileage.
But it was fun while it lasted...

installing a built motor is a trivial job and can be done by basically any competent mechanic. The supercharger is a very easy bolt on affair as well.
I would just have Dynosty do a complete long block with timing, valve covers, and oil pans all finished. Then its just a straight swap. Absolutely no reason to ship your car there.
Being in AZ, you have plenty of top notch tuners to chose from as well.
