Please don't compare me to guys like that. Ha ha. I only ran a 13.8 with my stock HR!! This is my fourth time at a 1/4 mile track.

Nope. That's about as good as you are going to get out of me. It was over 100 deg today. Maybe the slips will look a little better this winter. This is full weight, street tires, and full tank of gas. That is how fast my car is under the worst conditions.

I found my HR's limits on stock internals!!! I never got a chance to break the stock Trans because I lucked into a good deal on a built Trans a couple of months ago. Now the motor is getting built with stock heads, cams, and crank. Arias 10:1 pistons and BC rods.

With the new SI impeller spinning at 56K with the same Cog setup. It made 15 psi at 6700 rpms and held it to redline. I forget the horsepower, but it was over 450. Torque was 375 for days. I don't know what the Dynojet equivalent would be. Jtrans Dyno reads 10-15% lower than others. Either way, with just the SI impeller swap, I gained 55 lb/ft of TQ. I'll throw up the dyno sheet if I come across it. I didn't think to take a picture of it. My oil was all over the ground under the dyno.

I couldn't have gotten any luckier. There just happened to be a good HR sitting in the corner for sale! There is a dude doing a LS/4L80E swap right now, so there is no shortage of HR parts! Waiting on Rods and Pistons, then back to the dyno!

" I am a very happy JTran Studios customer. They even ate the R&D time on this whole cog pulley idea, and I have no idea why. Only charged me for the standard pulley swap time. They have been great since day one."

Seems like you think jtran is a decent shop...can you elaborate more on their time frames, prices etc? It would be nice to see a shop evaluation done on them in the link started by XKR....I'm looking for a future shop for my needs.

I take everything to them. I used to play with lifted trucks before I got this car. I have been screwed over-and-over by crappy shops. I have read a few of your rants and know how you feel. JTran is badass. Everything they have done since day one has been on time. Stillen had a hick-up on my intake manifold and Amber made them overnight the part on their dime. They handled the shipping to-and-from Vortech, and everything was done same day. I dropped the car off one day and the supercharger was in the mail to Vortech the next. Then when it was shipped back to them, the car was on the dyno that very night! I cannot be happier with everything they've done. Johnny was way more upset than me over the motor. I knew it was coming, just a matter of when. They are very realistic, and talked me out of getting the TI trim blower. Now I see why!!

Their rates are $100/hr. I get emailed invoices everytime something changes. I'm a lifetime customer. Amber handles the phones, parts, and scheduling. Johnny handles the tunes, and Ron Bergenholtz personally does the installs (look him up).

Default Jtran

Thanks for the vote of confidence...I hate threatened Tim at SFR a few months ago to ship it to Jtran or dynasty...always thought dynasty was the place to go but it seems like they are very busy as well (triji's post)...

QUESTION;

How is it that Jtran can get things in and out rapidly? do they not have much work or workaholics or??? Ive just always expected that but I have never seen it in the past 5 yrs or so working on this Z...from east coast to west coast, they ALL seem to suck! promise 1 thing and do another..

I spoke/emailed Amber a few times when I was disgucted before but never pulled the trigger cause I didn't know enough about Jtran. Every post I have read thus far about them has been glowing...Don't know how they do it.

I APPRECIATE THE INFO GREATLY!!!

I don't think it's rapid, just realistic. They haven't tried to blow any smoke. Just told me what they can or cannot do.

I have given up on the Stillen Supercharger. It got to the point where we were going to have to redesign most of the original kit to make anymore power (belt routing, charge pipe, relocate MAFs, new air filter and intake pipe, bigger heat exchanger, separate IAT sensor, etc). And since we are already spinning the SI in the red at 56K rpms, I don't want to spend any more money on this setup. I just sold the kit to a local guy and it's getting installed right now.

My motor was finished a couple of months ago, and now has just over 1000 miles on it. We ended up going with 10:1 Arias pistons and Carrillo rods. Ron took apart and cleaned the heads up. So the motor is ready for a lot more than this kit can put out. So it's time for a JTran Motorsports Low-Mount Single Turbo. I'll probably start a new thread in a few weeks when there is some progress.

Nice to see an update, the push for more power always finds limits, I think you did the right thing by going to a turbo.

OR! you could sell your 350Z and buy a big baller fast sedan and join Robert K and I in the Houston Ex Z club

^^Classy, he doesn't have a turbo. The stillen kit uses a vortech supercharger.

The next car I buy will be factory-fast. But for now I'm having a lot of fun with the Z. I can't think of a good reason to ever sell it. It is my favorite car in its class.
