He's right. I sold the supercharger a couple of days ago. The car will be under the knife for a few weeks getting a single-turbo.

Jaxter, would you not recommend the Stillen supercharger if running it at out of the box power? Were you having belt issues cause you were running smaller pulley or just a crap design?

Is JTran doing a custom low mount turbo for you or do they have a kit? I just know of Boosted Performance having what I'm understanding as being a low mount single turbo as you are planning but from the threads I've come across nothing specifically for the HR.

No I would not. The kit was a lot of fun after I got it up to about 13 psi (probably 475hp/375tq DJ). At 15 psi the front serp belt started slipping and we didn't spend enough time on the kit to remedy it. It only has about 30% belt wrap on that pulley. The Vortech guys all had similar problems, but there are so many of them that some good solutions for belt-slip are out there. I was still running the 3.2" pulley that came with the kit. But I changed to the cogs on the s/c drive itself and got the extra s/c rpms. The Stillen kit is fast, just like a 600cc bike is fast. But, you have to adjust your driving style accordingly and never let the rpms fall below 4000. So picture that on a street car with a loud exhaust. I felt like an obnoxious kid every time I wanted to play a little. You have to redline every gear to stay in its powerband. I hope that analogy makes sense. The kit is also not designed to grow much. 500hp/400tq DJ is the most I've seen a 370Z make with modifications. Then everyone gives up and goes turbo.

BigBlue can answer the questions on remote tuning. Obviously Stillen will work with you to straighten out the base map, but I just got a dyno tune right off the bat.

I hate to speak for JTran, but they only do custom work from what I've seen. You could call them and see. They have done quite a few of the low-mount singles, and are getting great results. The single turbo at 9 psi made more TQ than my Stillen made at 15 psi. And all of it is available anywhere above about 3500 rpms. I'm just stating things that almost everyone here already knows, but I'm new to this stuff and learning as I go.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Unfortunately it is not what I was hoping to hear. Like you I'm unable to part with my Z. My wife has given me her blessing to upgrade but I just can't say bye to it.

There is a lot more information on these kits on The 370Z Forum. A lot of guys over there have installed them and modded for more power, but they all found the same limitations.

Check on Boosted Performance too. Similar price and I read somewhere that he was checking fitment on a HR.

Yeah. Still have it. I'm keeping this one for the long haul. I just installed a new Kenwood Nav, component speakers, new headliner, interior touch up paint, and full interior sound deadening.

The new motor was in a few months ago. After I got finished breaking it in, Johnny and Ron tempted me with a custom single turbo and I bit. They took me for a ride in their buddy's ST 370Z and that's all it took. My Stillen S/C sold in one day. So I should be running a single GTX4088R by July. We are going to start out with low-boost, ID injectors, and pump gas until Johnny figures out Standalone for the HR 5at. If he can't get it sorted out, I'm doing a 6MT swap and Haltech, then upping the boost.

Did you sell yours? I wish I had known that. If it was last year, I would have parted out my car and grabbed yours! I'm in too deep now for anything like that.

How much power are you looking for? I forgot you have an auto. Is it built? A GT40 is a big turbo, I will be interested to see how it performs.

Speaking of JTran, the RX7 I bought was from there and went to an impound yard because the customer refused to pay for it, lol.

About 450hp/450tq MD to get started. Whatever Uprev and the 5at can handle. Yes the Trans is fully built with a cooler, Transgo VB upgrade, and frequent fluid changes.

Any more power will likely need more fuel and an EMS. I'd like to keep the power low to start, then sell the built 5at to fund a 6mt swap.

Good luck with the turbo build. Sold my Z in December. It hurt but to be honest it's a blessing in disguise. Daily driving an '09 CTS-V now. Looking to do some basic bolt-ons and should net in the 600-650rwhp when I'm "done." LOL With my 1y/o son money doesn't go towards mods (or my guns for that matter) as much as it use to.

I've been playing with Garrett's app and the GT4088R seems to work at all of my expected power levels. I am new at this stuff, but I think it's pretty close. Ron is checking with his contacts at Garrett to make sure our sizing is correct.

And 750 hp (just for room to grow):

The GTX is not in their app yet so I had to base all of these numbers on the GT. The GTX has a forged compressor wheel vs. cast. And those are crank hp figures. I also figured in a 3 psi pressure drop thru the intercooler and at 100 deg ambient. I know it's a lot of piping, but it should not be but 1-2 psi drop according to Garrett's tutorials.
