I disagree. I went to a taller gear ratio in my built TT due to having turbos that spool fairly quick. Having the taller gear just means I reach a higher top-speed. With a shorter gear set on a turbo car means you'll peak the RPMs quicker, in turn faster acceleration.

I personally don't know anybody who has advocated shorter gears for a turbo application. I know of tons of guys who swap in nothing but taller gears. You want to let the turbos "see" high load for as long as possible, because that's how they shine. If you rev through a gear too quickly, turbos won't have a chance to carry the load, so to speak.

OK... Think we're on the same page than. But for 1/4 drag racing and with a properly match turbo shorter gears can be beneficial.

I agree with the above statements, I just wanted to make sure the OP is ready for the 3.7's.

Where are all these 350z's hiding in Houston, I have seen Robert K's makes me wish I still had mine

Do you mean these 285s?

They are toast. I have a set of 305 R888s on now. I am keeping both pumpkins until I figure out which ratio I like better. Then I'll sell the other one.

I rarely leave the Lake Conroe area. Hope to spend more and more time in Baytown once I get the car put together.

It's cool with me man. I suck at getting good pictures. It's hard to do much research on this kit because there are not many out there. I had to get most of my info on the VQ37 forums.

I haven't been over to the vq37 forums, but I heard the supercharged vq37's make like 500hp without going crazy

I think you are smart for keeping both pumpkins, swapping them is pretty easy, just kinda some labor and time, those pumpkins are kinda heavy... I could probably swap them taking my time in 4-6 hours with a car jack

1000th post!!!

Most of the 370s that post build them up to about 500hp/400tq, then part out and go TT. It seems like 500hp is the limit the MAF setup, piping, and intercooler can support (without considerable redesign). Only takes a pulley swap and impeller upgrade to max it out. Ill see if there is any truth to that in a week or so. If all holds together, I'll send the Blower to Vortech for the SI upgrade next. Thinking the transmission will be needing some attention sooner than later though. Built 5AT or 6MT swap? I cannot decide.

I have a feeling I'm going to like the 3.3 better, but it's not a big deal for me to drop the car off at JTran on my way to work for the swap. They are right by the airport.

Ill let you know when I find the answer. Hope I get to drive it for a year or two first. I expect my 5AT will go first though.

Small update:

Nismo rear add-ons. Fitted and sent to paint.

Wilwoods went on. Staying with red for the time being.

Turbosmart Dual Port BPV going in.

And Cog Pulleys!! 34/30 with the stock 3.2" up front.

AEM Progressive Meth Controller goes in tomorrow, along with a rear fender roll. Should be on the dyno early next week. Then install Chargespeed Side Cowls and Shine TS-Style rear diffuser. That will wrap up this visit to JTran Studios.

Thank you sir. I plan to drive it at this power level for a while. At least until the kinks are worked out.
