Default The abominable VQ

Thought I'd share....132k miles on the OEM block, boosted 6 years and 70k on a used greddy kit. Finally threw it on a dyno after a rough street retune on the old UTEC. Still laying it down after all these years - net 443whp at 8.5psi on a DD set to comparison mode (dynojet numbers FWIW).

RPM scale is a little off since we had no RPM pickup and converted from roller speed, not sure if or how much it affected the final numbers but it feels about right -- it walks all over my 420whp G35.

This is awesome man. I just dropped off my car at rt tuning for a greddy tt install on stock block with a utec tune. I'm excited to see what numbers they get. My car currently has 123k but still runs very strong. Do you have any oil consumption issues ?

It consumed oil starting when the kit was installed (it was a used kit) and gradually got worse over time. As of now it's around a qt per 500mi. I'm 99% sure it's the turbo seals blowing oil into the exhaust -- compression is good, empty catch can, dry lower plenum, and plugs look normal.

I also have some oil consumption issues pre turbo. I just replaced my pcv valve before getting the stuff installed but I doubt that's it. What's your plan lol ? Just keep riding on it like that ? I think I'll be fine either way. I remember getting my used turbo kit and there was very minimal shaft play. Did you remember yours ?

Good news is it is cheap to rebuild journal bearing turbos. Bad news is you have to pull them off and they are in a tight spot.

No idea on shaft play, when I pulled the downpipes off I saw there's another pipe after the turbo the wastegate dumps into, so I couldn't get to the shaft easily. I'm assuming there's excessive play tho...

Plan is to ride dirty for a while longer, then rebuild turbos and engine at the same time... along with a DW400, bigger lines and rails, ID1000 injectors, and uprev instead of UTEC.

Are you going to refresh the engine or actually build it?

What ! I just decided on keeping the utec I had on this build. Lol it was a toss up between that and uprev. Don't make me change my mind again! Lol
They didn't start my car yet and I still have a chance to change my mind! I don't know anymore

UTEC will have spark blowout over 550whp or so without ignition system hacks (voltage boosters ect)...something to do with an incorrect dwell. since my goal is 600+ kind of ruled out UTEC.

If your goal is 600whp... I would skip Uprev and go straight to Haltech.

As of now I have a spare uprev license and hpx maf so figured I'd put it to use. If a good deal comes up on a used haltech I'd def. consider it.

Don't get me wrong... the Uprev will work out just fine but you'll have to spend a little extra money to protect the engine since Uprev is limited on that department.

By the way... Has anyone noticed that the Uprev site seems corrupted. Eveything I have on my PC for protection prohibits me from even going to there site.

Oh man, I'd be very nervous about boosting at that mileage and hope the best for it.

Aweswome power at 8.5 psi. I'm so jealous, I wish I had that power !! I need to build my spare block !!
