Mounted the TR1245 this am. Had to cut ALOT of the oem bumper to make it fit since it is larger than the one I was currently running. I won't be able to run the splash guard and oem lip because it sits farther forward and lower due to the front bash bar. Going to have to get a front lip to help hide this big intercooler sticking out on the bottom but that will have to wait till after I move to South Carolina next month.
Oh damn Blue, bad news. You're gonna have to change this now. Ha!

The i.c. is huge. If it were mine, I'd cut that crash bar and set the i.c. up higher. Then, I'd cut the lip of the bumper that's blocking the bottom of the i.c. and fix an aluminum bar in it's place, then wire mesh the whole freakin opening and paint the mess blue.

Yea I gotta do something about that. It's way too low for my liking, and i have coilovers i want to install after i rebuild them so i plan to sit a little lower and not have my intercooler act like a truck with a snow plow attachment lol.
And I don't wanna buy a completely new front bumper, I'm trying to keep close to OEM as I can in terms of the exterior.
Test drove the Z and man, intake Temps don't get to high at all, stayed between 8-12 degrees above ambient under normal driving and in boost. Boost read a little less than usual at 14.2 instead of 15psi, but it's to be expected because of the size of the Treadstone.
Oldman, I understand. I need to either get rid of the front crash bar entirely or get the intercooler rewelded to it and make it sit higher. This is just how it will look for now till its adressed.
Nice garage oldmanz350. You got some space age technology going on in there or what? The z looks like it's hovering. Ha!
The more surface area that's exposed, the better the i.c. will perform. That's why I wrote what I did above. It looks like you did a really good job getting it to fit.
Rather than an aluminum brace stretching from one side to the other, it could bolt to brackets welded on the i.c., one on each side at the very bottom and then attach to something fixed to or behind the bumper. Then do a mesh like oldman's or even go a little tighter to see less of what's behind it and then paint the mess blue. Just a thought.

It's cool. Im not ashamed to share my pics cause that's how I learn if I'm doing something odd or inefficient with the car. I appreciate both you and Oldman and others who chime in and check me once and a while, the constructive criticism only helps me build the car better with more suggestions/guidance.
Got to SC about two days ago. Pretty excited for the house I'm purchasing to finish closing the deal in a few more days.
Nearest E85 station is about 30 minutes away, and it is a bit of a drive. So I invested on buying a few gas jugs to top off after filling the Z up.
Z is doing fine as I trailered it here, so no additional miles were put on her.
Did some research and found that Soho motorsports is 2 hrs away, so as far as the Ysi install and tune, they will be the company I will deal with in the later months.
After much reading, I've decided not to tap my oil pan for my oil return for the V7. Not really comfortable doing it as it can Crack the upper pan if I'm not careful with the AN fitting after drilling. The metal is very soft so I don't want to screw it up.
Going with the Z1 oil pan spacer, and I ordered brand new Vortech return and feed lines to replace the used ones that came with the kit.
Down the road if tapping the upper oil pan is necessary, I will tee off the line already going to the spacer in the middle and run another line to the upper oil pan, using two paths for the oil to take.
I just tapped mine ..iam very compforable with tapping..i dont believe i matters honestly..the drain should have enough flow to push the hot oil out IMO no matter what level ..
Not much to update with. Prepared my Z1 oilpan spacer and spare oil pan with my AN fitting for the oil return with a generous amount of Gray RTV so it should not leak.
Still Waiting on a few more pieces before the big install. Either next weekend or the one after I will get it done. Shouldn't take more that 2 days taking my time.
Pulley setup will be 3.12 Serp, 34T/28T for now with the V7. I have the 2.87 but I want so see what kind of boost I will be seeing. I will also need to figure out my belt size as I will be using a tensioner pulley before the serpentine pulley.

Today is the big day for the install! After I finish duty, I will start breaking down the car and removing the SCi and piping.
Only thing I am missing is the CJM twin pump, which I will install later on in the following weeks. Wont be going WOT since I will be checking the operating status of the YSi making sure it works normally under normal load and that there are no issues with oil leaks on the oil feed, return and oil pan spacer.
Once the Twin pump gets here I will install and schedule with SOHO motorsports on retune.
