Default My Vortech is falling apart!!!

So about a month ago I sent my blower back for repair because the pulley fell off the blower unit. While I was looking in my engine bay today, I noticed that the bolt that holds the cog pulley to the jackshaft was missing too..!!! WTF! I'm gonna have to call vortech on monday.

Another thing, when vortech returned the blower to me, they replaced it with the wrong pulley. The pulley has the same amount of teeth, but it is a little longer, so my tensioner pulley does not reach out all the way to hold the smaller belt on. I hope I don't have to send my whole unit back to them so they can fix their stupid mistake.

I'm sorry to hear about this. How long did vortech have your blower during the first repair?

They had the blower for 2 weeks and shipped it back via 3-day air.

this is the "repaired" pulley vortech sent me.

take a look at Tigs pulley compared to mine.

Notice anything different? They installed the damn pulley backwards!!!!

Notice how they replaced the "allen head" bolt with a real "hex" bolt. That bolt also rubs against that little bracket thingy on the chassis when I WOT it. I

this thread has really shocked me. i cant believe this is vortech. vortech is and has been one of the most reliable names in supercharging in the mustang community for YEARS. i cant believe that theyd let this happen.

theyre high quality is one of the main reasons i went with a vortech for my car. if anything, id believe it if it was a procharger cause ive only seen one or two not leak or some other crap, but vortech...man. thats crazy

i dunno what to say. I think i'm one of the first members on the board to have the vortech. I have about 20k miles with the Vortech and it has been smooth sailing for the past year. Just 2 months ago my blower started making funny noises and then the problems started, pulleys started falling off and bolts started unscrewing themselves. I'm really considering ditching this kit and going for a turbo setup.

vortech should really just send you a new unit. That way, if any other crap happens to this one (which i think it will) then we won't have to keep taking on and off these units. Maybe it's that SC you have in your car right now that's giving you all the bad luck with your car.

To be honest with you. I have tried to get in touch with Vortech about some other problems and have had no luck. I have called and emailed. I can't believe that they do not return my emails.

They did take care of me when my bracket went bad everything went smooth.

Don’t get me wrong I like my Vortech but there customer service has to get a little better.

Yes, I talked to Mike. He's sending me a new key, bolt and washer. I'm just going to flip the pulley myself, no need to send it back to do such a simple job.

Just make sure you keep a copy of all these transactions for the future. Just in case you have a warranty issue.

Just to be safe , it's often a good idea to put a little Loctite "blue" on the pulley bolts. I've even had OEMm alternator nuts back off , a few months after a blower install. Most head units create some form of addtional vibration, which can loosen bolts over time.
