I am returning the Z and want to ripp the z-tube off as i am also taking my pop charger off.. now I wanted to know if the z is still drivable with no z -tube and if something bad can/will happen if u drive it like that? The leasing company won't give a crtap if i take it... dont worrie.. lol

What no intake arm??? That's preettty crazy. Your car would probably roar like a beast. Not to mention suck up alot of debris into the engine. Not good....

 

probably won't run, since there is a vacuum line that attaches to that tube.

 

I'm not sure you'll be even able to turn the engine on since the AF sensor won't detect any air flow passing by....

 

What is the point of this senseless mod? The whole point to that arm is to get cooler air from further away from the engine...??? If anythign you would want to extend the arm further.

 

He is not modding his car, he is trading it in. He wants to take out his Z tube + JWT pop charger to this next car - a new G35....

 

Do you already have your G35? If so, then you should swap them out instead of trying to remove the Z tube. You would probably have to whack off... sorry, I mean cut off... the lower resonator on the G tube, but like you stated... the leasor won't know the difference. Just be sure to seal the opening you make in the G tube after removing the resonator or you'll run into the same problem that Speedoholic mentioned, namely incorrect air flow readings from your MAS.

 

Have you even tried starting your car without the tube? Try it and see what happens. 2 things will happen if you do this. 1) if you don't have the tube in place your car will crank and start but will shut off off immediately. Or 2) it will run but your check engine light will come on because the MAF sensor is not reading any air coming into the engine. Either way it will mess up your car.

 

Just spend the 50.00 and buy a new tube.

 

you are playing around with two 35k automobiles and can't spare 70.00 for a new z tube? c'mon man. that is nothing to new tires in a couple short years.
