Tire Pressure Sensors

When exactly does your light come on? With my aftermarket winter rims, the light comes on after driving for 30-45 minutes. It turns off when I turn the car off and start it back up again. I just ignore the light when I'm driving on those rims.

The best way to get it to turn off is to get tire pressure sensors and install them on each wheel. Then register the TPS sensors with the BCM/ECU, and the tire pressure monitoring system will work again. Unfortunately, that is a very expensive option. The sensors are more than $200 apiece. And you need 4, so that's more than $800. Ouch.

I still have my stock wheels - will those sensors work with my Volks??
What?? The tire sensors are not really that functional, at least for me and many others. I just leave it on or ignore it. My sensors come on and off as they please, even though I haven't had it for teh last 9 months. Or you have it turned off. I forgot, but someone mentioned how they had it turned on in the ECU. I think it was on [url]G35driver.com[\url]
I got the long pressure warning chime 3 or 4 days after putting some air in my tires. The tire pressure is fine according to my digital tire gauge but the low pressure icon still lights up when I fire up the VQ. I'm guessing that the sensors still have some issues that need correcting.

The TPMs might fit into certain wheels, but you don't know until you try. You have several options.
1. TPMs fit.
2. TPMs don't fit, strap them onto the center of the wheels inside the tires (you can have some balancing issues and you need to make sure the bands that you strap the TPMs on with don't move/bust loose).
3. TPMs don't fit, throw them into your spare tire. Don't really know if this will work, but I have heard of at least one guy who did this. Downside it spare tire is (probably) not usable in this condition.
4. TPMs don't fit, leave them off and deal with the TPS alarm.

-i don't want to strap them on (people have had problems with them and my tires are mounted already).
-spare tire doesn't work (or so I've been told - need to confirm)
-really want the light OUT (bottomline here).
Are you saying that there is no way to disable the TPS management system ?
If I must I will kill the LED but Id rather solve it some other way.

OK.......try this. Check out this link.

There's information from the service manual (not owner's manual). The answer to (disabling) the TPM light might be in there. Sorry man this is the best I can do, wish I could give to a definite answer.

I may just take my gauge cluster apart and put a piece of black tape under the bezel between it and the light. I don't want to take the light completely out but I have heard that tps sensors won't work with SF-Challenges. Mostly becuase they are not a one piece wheel or something.

Unplugging the TPMS receiver doesnt seem to do the trick.
I dont really get it though. Some of the Z models dont come with TPS at all. It must just be a matter of pluggin in the electronics.
If your TPS light stays on after installing aftermarket wheels without sensors, it is an oddity. Most people (including me) don't get the warning light staying on all at all times in this situation since there is no signal being transmitted.
What does happen however, is that after about 45 minutes or so of steady driving, the light will come on due to being programmed to report a "no signal" (from the sensors) condition. If you still had the sensors, this warning would indicate that you may need to replace the battery in the sensor or the sensor is completely shot.
The good thing is, the fix for this is to simply turn the engine off and the light goes out until you have another long drive.
If you have no sensors and the light stays on at all times, I would try the old "disconnect the car battery" fix to try to reset the condition. (several hours should do it). Reconnect and see if the light has gone out.
