The engine is back on the dyno and should have some more running done today.

Step in the right direction.

Just wanted to give my opinion on the options in the intake manifold market. I think 350EVO is going to be the best choice for N/A since it is being geared towards N/A 350Z's. And I encourage you guy's to wait for it. I also think APS is going to be the best choice for F/I who want a intake manifold (not an upper plenum, i'm speaking of intake manifold). I think Kinetix failed with their new plenum, mainly for not setting a market, they generally went towards F/I, but the only F/I numbers are skewed, and the N/A numbers aren't even worth it for the price. Speaking of the price, since it does gain lower than expected, they should have used a different material to save on production costs that transferred to consumer cost. "But, it also loses eight pounds" Yeah? You could spend ~$100 and lose ~22lbs with a Odyssey PC680. So it looks good under the hood? Yeah, there are ALOT of other cheaper options to "dress-up" the engine bay.

Just my thoughts.

If you are N/A, get a 350EVO intake manifold. If you are F/I, APS will be your best bet. (we'll see what SSR does, though I don't think it's doing anything great)

BTW, I haven't kept up with the series you race in dwnshift, what do you think of the 05 Mustangs though (in the Grand Am series, you've raced a race against one of them right?)

Only took me 2.5 months to notice this thread. Guess that's what happens when employers block php software...

BJ, I'll probably be calling you in the near future... look forward to seeing some of the results of this IM. Cheers and good luck in this weekend's race.

I don't think this intake manifold will be worth it. Sure it will probably be the best on the market but it's going to cost $800-$1000. I mean you can buy a $150 spacer and it's been shown numerous times to gain around 10hp. I doubt this intake manifold will make more than 20hp. Lets say it does gain 20 hp. Are you going to pay an extra $650-$850 over the spacer just to get another 10 hp?

once you reached a certain level of mods, 10whp will be hard neough to get.
there are people on the martket that want to squeeze out every whp they can with NA, and there are people on the market just looking for mods thats best bang for the buck, each to his own.

i think it will be worth $800 for a real 20whp (meaning a dyno chart of 25+whp)

my Z is bone stock right now. I have a 100k mile warrenty. I would like to add a couple of mods that increase power but are easy to take off in the event of me taking the car in for dealer service. This suits the bill perfectly as no other NA mod can do this for the price (adding install time into cost). maybe some very nice headers could make 15whp, but then you are talking about lots of time for install/deinstall.

Last year we ran a thicker intake manifold gasket as the rules for our series said gaskets were open and did not specify sizing.....on the engine dyno ...it didnt make that much of a difference..2-3 HP up top. Like I have said time and time and time again...Lets see what we come up with. I am sure we can arrange some comparison testing.
